[OTTD] Scenarios

Apparently those nice omnipotent dev-types want some copyright free scenario's for OTTD that they can release with the game.

And now, a public service announcment:

Hey, you! You with the scenario editor!
And all of yous with interest in maintaining the Wiki.

Sleepie, T-Unit, Jupix and JameiLei have been collaborating to create a consistent Wiki database for OpenTTD scenarios. Here's what it would look like: List of player-made scenarios

As you can see, so far we have created merely a basic structure for listing the various scenarios in this thread and elsewhere. There is still a lot of work to be done, categorizing all the various listings etc.

However, now we need YOUR help. We are about to form a sort of a "Scenarios Team" at the wiki, a batch of like-minded people who would every once in a while take a look at the wikipage AND this thread and make corrections/additions/alterations where appropriate. So we are looking for people who would be willing to help us out. If you are interested in this, take a look at the Scenarios Team page at the wiki. If you decide to join, do please drop us a note so we know who is in.

We also need the help of scenario authors: if you have listed a scenario here, we'd also like you to list it at the wiki page. You don't even need a wiki account for that, just surf at the List and do the following:
  • Take a screenshot showing the minimap of your scenario (preferably medium-size, in PNG). Example
Take a screenshot showing a detail you like about the scenario you are about to list. Again, preferably medium-size, and in PNG. Example
Name the above files logically and upload them to the wiki here.
Add the following code under the relevant categories:

    Code: Select all

    Code:

    Done!

If you don't want to add it yourself - no problem, we can do it for you , but we need your permission. In that case please add a comment when posting new scenarios or contact one of the members of the scenario team for already published ones. Thank you.

By adding all the scenarios in this thread to the wikipages, we'll be making it a lot easier for newcomers to search and download new scenarios. By adding your scenarios, you'll be making a valuable contribution to the wiki.

Oh, and don't worry about making mistakes - we'll spot and fix them afterwards. The important thing right now is to get scenarios listed at the wikipages.

END Announcement.

I hearby release my scenario into the public domain, so long as any and all credit for it is given to me.

Maybe the devs would like to make a comment on what they want/expect from these things.[/list]

Nice one Moriarty, but that forest is WAY to big

Here is mine:

i like the delta one.

I agree that the forest in moriaty's one is too big. It's an interesting concept, but distinctly un-ttd in characteristic.

I have played both scenario's ... I think delta is a bit too flat, but maybe thats just my opinion...

Personally I realy like ocean view, but if I can make a few suggestions..
You should flatten out the mountains in the red oval below.. because it would:

1. Make it more realistic, around the sea the land is more flat always.
2. Make the map more versatile.. it would be one half flat and one half mountains. That would be my ideal map.

Anyway, Im just making suggestions.. its your scenario ofcourse :D .

Keep it up!

I love making scenarios, and would like to make a tropical scenario.
I was hoping to have the "make desert" tool reworked though, so its easier to place deserts where you want them.

Nice scenarios posted so far btw :)

Hmm positive feedback. Thanks folks. :)

As to the size of the forest... i like it. :) You can't use all of them at once anyway. hmmm though maybe you can.

*15 mins later*

Well have an "improved" version of it here with suggestions taken into account, and farms that don't have as many fields filled with trees (it's a bug in the editor)

Relating to the delta scenario: Bah, i was planning on doing a river delta one. But i'll probably still do one anyway. :)

I made a new scenario: XUberCity

I made a city with more than 50,000 people! Who can beat this!
Rectangle sized land!

Enjoy! :D

Mr.X, for TTD, there are scenarios with 2 million people.(And no, they were not created with hacks)

Observer - glad you like it :)

Another scenario. This one is a nice little river valley. Using a combination of boats and trains you can set up feeder services (all the coal and stuff is in the hills, but the industries are by the riverside), or you can simply transport it all with trains and bridges over the weblingnet river.

Anotherone :) .. I like the idea of this, with the rivervalley and all. But (here it comes).. I like to make another suggestion :P .. I know it, Im a pain in the butt.
Anyways, Im only trying to improve the scenario creating process... In my opinion, the scen from the original TT 'West Country 90201' is realy great. And it looks proffessional. And I have looked at it to figur out what makes it great.. one of the key elements is the roadmap. All cities are connected from the beginning of the game through roads. This makes it realistic, because in real.. there are roads between cities.

That's for now the only thing that bugs me.. The map looks a bit empty without roads... anyway, use my comments the way you like, or not at all :)

Hey those are really some nice one scenarios. I'll try to make one too and post it here. Anyway it is good to see some scenarios for OTTD. They make playing really more interesting.

Ok I have created another scenario...

Its a ehm.. very... ehm... TOWNY map.. for the people who like to transport passengers.
I have tried to spend as much attention as possible to every tile on the map, therefore its kinda busy and there is almost no space left for your railway tracks, this is what (I hope) makes my scen a bit harder to play. On the other hand, I have carefully placed some of the industries together, so you can easily start off making some money.
I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Some feedback is welcome... :D

observer - Your scenario is a little... grid-like... well based on the Screenie anyway.

As to the roads, i was considering it for the river one (a "highway" along the river banks), but decided to leave that to the player.
