My Computer is totally clean, it is just very old. I have to wind it up, to get it started :).

And the noise it makes, is terribly loud. The PC is from 2001, and was not one of the best choises. Anyway, I'm gonna help you.

Small Guide:
- Load the heightmap into a scenario
- Start Google Earth
- Build the villages on the same place on the map, as in Google Earth
- Than you have to adjust a little piee of land, near Belgium.
- Next the industries, totally up you you, where you are going to place them
- Then Save the Scenario, and post it here (+screenshot)

If you have more questions, please contact me at this board or at the wiki (see down)

Country of three citys

Post by ruler »

My (half)first professional scenario. My images won't work, i might place them later. It's just a land with 3 cities, and no industries.

Rotterdam at sea??!! And where is the Dutch Harbor :). I also think you should have placed the industries by hand, so that the people can build more tactical.

Orginality: 7 (not the first map i've seen about this part)
Landscape: 5 (Rotterdam has a river through town, also the Thames does not stop in London)
Industries: 6 (You should have placed them by hand, not randomly)
Transport Possibilities: 8 (Great number of possibilities, thanks to the pre-build highways)

Overall Score: 6,5 (avarage)

Try to improve yourselve :)

this is my first scenario. it was made so that you can only play it with roads, trams and boats.
it's size is 128x128.
some roads were built manually.
starting date: january 2007.
compatible with openttd version 0.5.2.

Also my comments about that one :).

Orginality: 9 (Very origional, never seen anything like this before)
Landscape: 5 (Great change of land/sea, but no hills)
Industries: - (None)
Transport Possibilities: 4 (Low number of possibilities, although loads of tows, i think someone quits playing after 30 min.)

Total: 6 (average)

Around here we post in black. Colors are allowed for emphasis, but nothing else. Please fix your post.

Rainbow posting is, of course, strictly forbidden.
OK, so maybe not forbidden, but it will probably earn you one-way tickets to quite a few killfiles.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Here are my comments on your scenario:

Orginality: 4 (Terrible, looks like you do not have any inspiration at all)
Landscape: 1 (All land is +1, and in square shape, try to be more realistic next time)
Industries: - (None)
Transport Possibilities: 4 (Low number of possibilities, although loads of towns, i think someone quits playing after 20 min.)

Overall Score: 3 (very bad)

I suggest you take it back to the draw table, and make a better one next time! But do not get me wrong, since it is your first, there is lots of room for improvement, so keep on the good work!!

Personally, I don't think this scoring business is a very good idea...

The only reason why people post their scenarios here, is that they would like to know what others think about it. Although some people do not care, I think it is good to know :)

You don't think it's a good idea to write up one's opinion about a scenario? The scoring system may seem like a review, but people should do that if they feel that's the way they want to express themselves. If you upload a scenario, expect people to comment, regardless of whether they like it or not.

That's not what I said, is it?

I just think the last couple of "reviews" came across discouraging if not downright insulting, and that's not the way to go at this stage in the project's development. Obviously I know that was not the intention, but a newcomer might not know that, and might never try again when his "welcome" is this cold-hearted. I mean, if you're going to mock entries like that, you should at least make an effort to balance it out with some positives.

and to add to that, you need to remember that everyone's veiw is different,

i personally play the said scn file, for about an hour last night, and had fun

i personilly think if this is going to happen from now on, i mean reviewing of SCN files, then it should come from a average descion from, lets say a number of people, a board if you will.

just my veiw tho.

I was merely defending his right to review as he wished, not his rating. His review was certainly one-sided.
