A question from a common noob

Hello there! I am new here. This may be my first and last post in this forum. I have searched all over the internet but can't find any solution. I am having trouble opening grfcodec.exe. It only opens a command window then closes quickly. I tried executing it on CMD but it did not work. Somebody help me please?

Executing it in CMD is the right way. What do you mean it didn't work?

1) Don't double click on it to open it.
2) On the start menu, search for cmd.
3) Right click on cmd, and go to 'Run as administrator'.
4) Type in 'cd C:\Program Files\OpenTTD\' (or wherever grfcodec is on your computer).
5) Type in grfcodec.exe.

And you're done! (Well you still need to do whatever you want to do with grfcodec).
