Help with running in Vista

Trying to install TTD on my Vista laptop, but the damn thing is doing my head in. If i install the disk i cant launch it because it asks me to select which program to run it with. I tried to run the patch but again its asking me to select a program....i am a dimwit when it comes to computers but i managed to get it working on my XP laptop no problems!
