Photo of the Month Competition - November 2019 - Entries

Post by Voyager One »

The POTM October 2019 contest is OPEN

Theme:
"TIME"
... as set by last month's winner Transportman.

As always, rules can be found HERE.

How to enter:
Easy - simply upload your image to this topic to enter or link it from a trusted site such as flickr, photobucket, DeviantArt, your personal website etc.
Uploading is preferred as it keeps things together. If you're linking from a URL, having a small 'preview' image and a link to a high-res image would be helpful.

At the end of the month, this topic will close and a voting topic will be started with all the entries in for people to choose their top one.
All entries will be uploaded to the tt-forums wiki and stored there for voting and also for archive.
Entries close on the last day of the month, voting will be available for 7 days (approximately).

The winner will need to contact me about what they want the next theme to be and then that will be posted in the entry topic for the next month*. Then we repeat from there. Simple.
(* If the winner doesn't choose a theme within 7 days, the next month's theme will be an "Open" theme).

If you wish to change your entry, you may so long as the entries are still open. Simply upload a new one to the topic and remove your old one.
Otherwise, it may get confusing as to which one you are entering. If there are two entries submitted and you have not informed me which one you wish to be used, I will use the first one posted.

Cheers people!
Leon

I guess we'll also run this into December?

Just a thought looking back on this year, are there still enough people interested in joining the POTM to keep it interesting? We had several months with a small number of entries that had to run for multiple months, so maybe stop the competition after this round?

Yeah, we'll go into December.

I hope this competition continues. Yes, there are very few competitors lately but I hope this will change. I'd hate to see it coming to an end.

...and of course I've forgotten to post my entry as well and I don't have it on my phone..
:?

In honesty, we had this happen with the old competition many years ago. I think sometimes we just forget about it and find other things to do. Real life kinda takes over sadly.
What helped before is because there was quite a long 'break' from the POTM stuff, when it returned there were many of us keen to take part again :P

Well... what else can I say...

Let's try to do this last month followed by the usual picture of the year voting and then we'll take a break, I guess... :(

It might need it for a little while sadly. Just till we start to miss it and want to get it going again :P

I could be wrong though, who knows! :D Sometimes themes make it a bit difficult too if they are rather challenging or specific. However having an open theme every month might get a bit boring too so there's a careful balance needed
It's been going pretty well since 2012 which is really impressive! It's just indeed a shame we don't have the same level of entries now as we did then.

It'll come back around though =)

Maybe it's not very on-topic, given how small (and blurry) the element is, but here it is.

Commuter train coming in on time... or is it ?

EDIT : Are we extending this to January as well ?

The oldest local trains NS still operates, next to the newest local trains NS operates, with 44 years of time between the introduction of the two.

Given that it is now February and we only have 3 entries, maybe finalize this?

I think we were letting it run for a bit int he hopes a break in the competition might make more people come back to it.
Last few competitions haven't seen many people entering so perhaps deserved a break.

How about this...

4th entry - a very "modern" time (displaying) machine...

Let's conclude this contest, after that we'll sum things up with the traditional Picture of the Year and then let's take a break...

This has been quite the break. But given the global circumstances, warranted.

I'm sure we can revive it again sometime :D

The original one went silent for a few years till its revival. Perhaps we can reboot it for the summer which/if things calm down a bit
