I work in Pawtucket, RI, often considered the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution in the US. Slater Mill is just down the street from my office (another old mill building). There's also an abandoned train station that I knew nothing about until I saw this video posted today.

Unfortunately that describes a lot of Pawtucket. It used to be grand old industrial city, but it's fallen on pretty hard times. Fun aside, Quahog, RI (from Family Guy) is partially based on Pawtucket.
