Voting time!

Entrants can be found here.

The theme of this month was "THE SERENITY OF ABANDONED PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION VEHICLES", as set by the last month's winners Hyronymus and Transportman.

Voting will last until June 8th, so cast your vote and good luck to all entrants!

Was it? I thought it was about abandoned vehicles personally

Sorted :P

Quite gutted I didn't get to enter this month. Had some really good places in mind, but my camera is knackered and still waiting on a new one to arrive in stock.

The post was still work in progress, not the theme :p

Considering the [so far] winning entry, "theme" is moot. I guess it's a result of the English language being a "work in progress"

It's a close one this month, really curious how it is going to end.

I'm inclined to vote for Transportman, simply in hopes of the best possible theme for next month. (you don't want me to pick the theme... trust me  )

While we're waiting for the new POTM thread, I can provide a little sneak peek about the theme that YNM and I have agreed on:

In general terms, [it] is bounded on the east by the Pacific Ocean, on the south by the Indian Ocean and on the north by the Arctic Ocean. The western boundary with Europe is a historical and cultural construct, as there is no clear physical and geographical separation between them. The most commonly accepted boundaries place [it] to the east of the Suez Canal, the Ural River, and the Ural Mountains, and south of the Caucasus Mountains and the Caspian and Black Seas.

I completely didn't expect to win  My image was blurry and smothered out, thanks to softwares and the whole thing being a pretty old device... Actually voted for Voyager One ! Interesting ship that, is it being made into a monument or something ?

She is a Russian-built hydrofoil, built in the 70s-80s if I'm not mistaken. She was simply left to rot there on the pier after the owner company went bankrupt in the 90s. Interestingly, this picture was taken a year or two ago and I happened to pass there last week and she was gone after 20+ years! I have no idea where have they put her, I guess she was finally sent to a scrapyard...

Should've been made a nice feature in the harbour... or some parks... I'm mostly baffled on the trusses below, those are not part of the ship I presume ?

Yes they are. Those are her "wings" on which she goes about waterline. See below an example of a more modern hydrofoil, the wings are more visible here...

P.S. I've found a few pictures of a more similar design...

Well, I'm apalled they haven't made a monument off it ! What an interesting machine.
