That's right! I got a job with VTEC...until 2020 when it becomes someone new.

Oh boy. You might get a lot from me then. I'm straight on twitter for every minor irritance a TOC does, and VTEC is one of the big ones for Wakefield Westgate my nearest station :P

I hear that pet or love aren't the best to call someone either.

Anyway, hope to see you about when people are confusing VTWC with VTEC, about all I see of VTEC on twitter.

Is that directly employed by them? If so, enjoy your PRIV! It's the thing I miss the most about working for a TOC...

I'll try not to! Apparently they don't like it.

It is directly employed with them! :) tbh, I don't really know the ins and outs of the PRIV.

I had an interview for Nothern's Social Team a few months ago, didn't get it.

How does "broken 25 kV AC powerline" be somewhat common ?!

A huge fire ripped through parts of Nottingham rail station yesterday. It started in a toilet block, and due to this its being treated as an arson attack; http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-no ... e-42660181

It's a quirk of the ECML...

It doesn't happen often, but it's not unusual when it happens if that makes sense.

One of those things which you know can and does happen. So it's not a surprise when it does.
The only variant is how bad the damage is. This one was quite something! But luckily one stanchion away from taking down about 3-4 lines in one go!

Still better than the Great Eastern which seems to come down if someone so much as sneezes too close to it :P

GEML has got a bit better. At least it doesn't have 4 lines on a headspan so that if one line good the rest tend to stay up so you can usually use two of the four lines.

With the collapse of Carillion, I wonder if the UKs rail projects are going to face delays. They often did contract work on the UK rail network.

I fear that rail work will turn out to be the least of our worries - prisons for example are being left short staffed because the Carlion employees know they're getting nothing.

A bit, but probably not hugely. The projects and staff will get picked up by other companies. I would guess projects aren't going to get cancelled, just delayed a few months.

Any delay, depending on the current state of the electrification of Manchester - Preston via Bolton, could seriously screw up the May timetable, as many services via Bolton appear to be converting to Electric, and Northern are redistributing their diesel stock elsewhere. I'm hopeful however, that the wiring has been finished, and it's simply a case of testing now.
