Re: Your last plane journey

My last plane journeys:

BA - ABZ - LHR
Airbus A320

Sat on the right hand side (I'd usually be sat on the left) - nice views of central London as we approached Heathrow. We then stayed overnight in the Thistle hotel near Terminal 5, and got to have a go on the parking pods. :)

BA - LHR - SOF
Airbus A321

Not so much in the way of views, as I recall, but a nice enough flight. Got a pretty good cooked breakfast on the flight (after having had a cooked breakfast in the airport!).

Austrian Airlines - SOF - VIE
Fokker (lol) 100

Great view all the way from Sofia to Vienna, following the Danube for much of the journey. Was having fun trying to figure out where we were flying over - nice to see Belgrade, Budapest and Bratislava from the air!

BA - VIE - LHR
Airbus A319

Fine, except BA mysteriously lost our seating assignments and moved us back about 10 rows, and then, after we'd been happily settled for 5-10 minutes with our relatively small backpacks in the overhead locker, some guy comes on with a stupidly massive suitcase and then, oh dear, he can't fit it in the locker. So they ask us to remove our bags and put them in front of our seats, impeding our legroom when we were a) on the plane first and b) brought sensible sized bags! Grrr.

BA - LHR - ABZ
Airbus A320

Again, a fine enough trip - some nice views coming into Aberdeen, including flying over basically the whole route of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, which is starting to take shape. :)

They are getting rid of the Fokkers soon, so "lucky" you, hehe.

Oh, and I think they should not allow hand luggage with wheels. If you're not able to carry it all the way, it's not hand luggage.

+1 ;)

Luxair got rid of the Fokkers after a plane crashed years ago. they had problems with the speed indicator which was freezing all the time and malfunctioning then. (iirc)

The Fokker we were on was fine enough - first Fokker I'd been on since 2007 or so with KLM.

Tokyo Haneda - Frankfurt
B747-8

Frankfurt - London Heathrow
A321

The B747-8 I genuinely couldn't tell apart from the B747-400 I took out. If it was quieter, I couldn't tell. The Malaysia Airlines A380 I was on 2 years ago certainly had a noticeable difference, but this one didn't.

I find 787s quiet, and basically everything else indistinguishably loud. Maybe slightly worse if its an obviously clapped out 2nd or 3rd hand plane, but generally all 747s, 57s, 67s, 77s, and airbuses up to and including the a380 sound more or less the same to me when I am sitting aft of the wings.

YYC - YVR and back with AirCanada.

I was pleasantly surprised that the cabin had entertainment screens in the seat in front on such a small journey (58 minutes flight time).

Currently at Ishigaki airport waiting for the boarding of my flight (Japan Transocean Air NU86) to Osaka Kansai. Sad to be leaving such a beautiful island and bringing my Japan trip to a close. I am already planning my return to Japan!

BA1379
Aircraft: Airbus A321 (G-EUXG)
Seat: 6A
Origin: Manchester (MAN) - 08:45
Destination: London Heathrow (LHR) - 09:25

Nice enjoyable journey, free food and drink and should have taken 1 hour and 10 minutes long, only took 40 mins. Now to head to Wembley for the Cup Final!

Do we have a "current plane journey" thread as well? I'm on DL144 right now going from SEA to AMS. :)

You can always create one, this topic was created before the planes had WiFi!

Trip: DUB - ZRH (Dublin T1 - Zurich)
Airline: Swiss
Flight No: LX401
Date: 12th March 2016
Aircraft: Airbus A321

Return:
Trip: GVA - DUB (Geneva - Dublin T1)
Airline: Swiss
Flight No: LX410
Date: 19th March 2016
Aircraft: Airbus A321

I have to say, though; being used to travelling mostly with Ryanair I HATED flying, but then I was lucky enough to fly with Swiss Air AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. Such a great airline; excellent service, nice and clean plane that was not held together by duct tape (*cough, cough* Ryanair), plenty of leg room even in second class, lovely food and surprisingly not that expensive compared to other airlines!I thoroughly enjoyed my flight and I recommend Swiss Air!

I will do that next time. :)

About the Flight(s):
Was going to Seattle via Amsterdam and back.

Trip: VIE-AMS
Airline: KLM
Aircraft: Boeing 737-700
Notes: Got a nice cake.

Trip: AMS-SEA
Airline: Delta
Aircraft: Boeing 767-400
Notes: You get pretty far up north (see attached image), lots of awesome views of Greenland and Baffin Land. WIFI works pretty nice through the entire flight (probably because most people don't use it)

The return flights were pretty much the same, except that I didn't get a cake when going from Amsterdam and the landing in Vienna was pretty rough.

If someone here gets on a long distance flight with Delta soon, I can only recommend buying the "Delta Global Day Pass" at gogoair.com. Currently you get another day pass for free, so it's only 14$ per flight. This was the least boring long-distance flight I ever had. :)

P.S. It is worth visiting the Boeing factory in Everett!

Okay, so I've done a return trip to London, partially for the forum meet, partially for me having a little break from work.

Outbound (MAN-LHR)
Flight: BA1387
Aircraft: G-EUYI
Seat: 20A
Took about 40 minutes, absolutely no issues other than turning straight back off the runway on getting there as the dispatcher had to forgotten to put our loadsheets in. Then on landing at Heathrow, we had to wait for the Police to escort a Rolf Harris lookalike off the aircraft.

Return (LHR-MAN)
Flight: BA1402
Aircraft: G-EUYK
Seat: 11B
Should have been an 18:10 departure, eventually departed 90 minutes later, as the aircraft had been picking up delays all day. Landed 80 minutes late at Manchester after a nice turbulent Approach, I guess it isn't Manchester without the Wind and Rain  Emergency Exit seat gave me lots of legroom, so that was a plus side, and at least I had chance for a few pints and some food at Heathrow before I left :)

Yeah.

Outbound:
Trip: ARN - LGW (Stockholm-Arlanda to London-Gatwick)
Airline: Norwegian
Flight No: D82849
Date: 8 July 2016
Aircraft: Boeing 737-800

Return:
Trip: LGW - ARN (London-Gatwick to Stockholm-Arlanda)
Airline: Norwegian
Flight No: D82858
Date: 11 July 2016
Aircraft: Boeing 737-800

We suffered from a roughly 90 minute delay heading back home to Stockholm. This was caused by bad weather in both Stockholm and London. We did arrive back home only about an hour late thanks to a decent tailwind.

Earlier today.

Trip: MAN-FUE (Manchester to Fuertaventura)
Airline: Ryanair
Flight Number: FR3805
Aircraft: EI-DWR
Seat: 30A

Bumpy ride most of the way, but not too bad otherwise

Thursday

Ponta Delgada (PDL) - Lisbon (LIS) - London Heathrow (LHR)

Azores Airlines/SATA and BA

Had a holiday in Lisbon and the Azores; it was really great and was able to ride 2 of only around 40 still airworthy Airbus A310s - including one which was slightly older than me... Like a time-warp on the inside!

And, I flew back from Spain earlier.

From: Fuertaventura (El Mattoral)
To: Manchester (Ringway)
Airline: Ryanair
Flight Number: FR3806
Aircraft: EI-EKR (Boeing 737-800)
Seat: 30A

Mostly smooth ride, only a touch of Turbulence. Strangest Approach I've ever had into Manchester though!
