Don't mess with the railways...

Post by Dave »

Stolen from a rail enthusiast site, these links on YouTube:

This one is the easiest of the three to watch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dO_s4m54 ... ed&search=

This one is a lot harder to watch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuAqJIpk ... ed&search=

And this one is allegedly a real person:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuKXXyJ3 ... ed&search=

There are others, like America's Operation Lifesaver campaign...

But you can find these for yourself.

Puts Clarkson and Network Rail (however much of a joke it was) to shame, really, doesn't it?

You can almost feel the power behind the train.

With a thorough grounding in chatspeak following a week long training course on the Priory Estate in Dudley, I have deduced this:

People muck about on railway lines because it doesn't kill them. Having said that, they do tend to stop once it does, though.

Had such an idiot crossing a closed railway barrier just this morning at the station of my hometown. This stupid also ignored about the warnings from the signalman spoken out loud and clearly on the stations loudspeakers. Well, the approaching train was a sole BR 151 (heavy german freight engine) at full speed. There were just seconds between him and the loco which avoided a desaster. If it would have been a faster engine, well, I would have had a bloody morning...

God you're as bad as the frothing veg on the forums I got the links from.

"He deserves to die! Yada yada yada"

And PLEASE learn to use grammar correctly!

Some people are just in a rush. I have no doubt Toni was in a rush before she stepped out without looking. The hard-nosed people could say it means the ignorance and carelessness is out of the gene pool. That's fair enough, but it doesn't mean it's fair; nor is it right.

You can cry foul about people that don't look or directly disobey the law, but what about the family that then has to go through the horrible process of identifying the body and arranging their funeral, etc.

Yes, it's hard on the driver who has his conscience wrecked, but no one considers the families of the people who die in accidents like this.

Something for you to think about, anyway.

Well, just forgetting to have a look is something quite different from ignoring clear warnings and a barrier. I'd never say someone deserves beeing hit by a truck, train, plane or anything else. I've seen several people who had fatal accidents when I worked as an EMT at civillian service. But several people don't realize how dangerous trains are. People, keep an eye on yourselves...

There's Operation Lifesaver in Canada as well. And their warning posters are...well, rather Canadian.

Also, the Darwin awards are given to people who kill themselves accidently or diliberately in the most stupid ways.

Don't play with trees kids!

Watched those original videos last week when this topic was posted (the joys of being so busy to not want to login as orudge due to not having time to read all posts :P) - pretty hard-hitting ads. They should show them over here, perhaps.

So for not appreciating his 'own' life, he should die?

On the other view: He doesn't value his life and you don't like that attitude, he is dead now and you are still muttering about it?

Or your reasoning is flawed or your logic, otherwise I would be wrong; and in that prospect everyone that is walking trough a red light or crossing a railroad crossing that is closed, without evidence of what motive the person in question had deserves to die.
I find that a little appaling. Could be me tough.

Sorry for that, carry on with the topic... Don't mind my muttering. :P
