Submissions are currently OPEN for February 2023.

Current competition theme is ECO-CITY

Voting is currently CLOSED for February 2023.

Congratulations to temporal8 and gravelpitfor winning the January 2023 competition!

A comprehensive overview of past competition results is maintained on the OpenTTD wiki. Logo courtesy fridaemon

Recommendation:

Screenshots saved in the PNG format (OpenTTD does this natively) is the preferred method.
Other formats are NOT disallowed, but they do not render drawn graphics as effectively.
No need to redo existing submissions but please do consider this recommendation for future submissions.

TT Screenshot Competition Rules
  • All participants must register an account on tt-forums.
  • Screenshots should describe the current theme.
  • Screenshots should be submitted to this thread. Please make sure your entry is in an "attachment" and not just a direct link.
  • Screenshots can be any size. However, large zoomed-in screenshots should be downsized and "giant" screenshots are discouraged as they don't work well in the voting post.
  • Animated GIFS are permitted if specified in the current month's theme. GIFs must focus on one moving or stationary subject, as a slideshow constitutes multiple screenshots and breaks the following rule.
  • Only one entry per participant. Entries may be withdrawn or replaced at any time before the deadline.
  • The deadline is the end of the last Wednesday of the month as it disappears across the international date line.
  • Captions are permitted and encouraged in order to elicit greater voting.
  • Use of graphics programs to enhance screenshots (aka "Photoshopping") is permitted to an extent. Heavy editing (things not normally possible in the game) is only allowed if the competition theme calls for it.
  • The winner is offered the chance to pick the next month's theme. If the winner declines to select a theme, or is not able to submit a theme within seven (7) days after being declared the winner, the competition moderator shall select a theme for the next competition.
  • In the event of a tie, the winners will be offered an opportunity to collaborate together on a theme. If they cannot come to a quick decision, the competition moderator shall select a theme for the next competition.
  • If fewer than three entries are submitted in a month, the competition will automatically roll over to the next month. If after two months there are still fewer than three entries, the competition moderator will declare the competition a draw, and select a theme for the next competition.
  • If more than 20 screenshots are entered: the forums will break, the world will collapse and the competition organiser will be declared the winner in the post-apocalyptic world.

Only one small change.
To free up moderators' time we now ask that you accompany your larger screenshots with an 800x600 copy posted as an inline attachment.
The viewers will still be able to click on your link (spoiler) to view your larger screenshots.

Never mind. In his retirement Emperor Jake has gone into the old horse new trick training business. :D

kamnet and I will be sharing moderator duties. If one is absent the other should be available.

So send in your favorite pictures of the current theme and get yourself lots of votes. :D

Welcome Kamnet and Wallyweb as our new moderators for the competition.

To our previous moderator "Emperor Jack" thank you for all you done and home we hear from you still.

I chose COUNTRY for this months competition. It up to you if you include a Country town in the scene. Some ideas for a country theme could forestry, mining, fishing, farming, holiday resort, scenic, mountainous, desert, snowy or maybe you can think of something I didn't.

Cheers all

Let's get this thing started! Here is my entry.
Fredinho wrote:Welcome to the land of Deliverance. Far away from the nearest cities, time seems to have stopped in this place. Nothing but a bunch of farmers, an abandoned church and a small factory that may or may not still be in use. Nobody knows. You can practically hear the dueling banjos as you navigate down the muddy waters. If you hear any squealing pigs: run.
A shout out to GarryG, who keeps turning out these wonderful graphics! At such a rate, I almost don't dare to start a new game :)

EDIT: Updated my entry with a few minor changes. Now with functional river and bridges.

It your fault you know and others :D You use things not how I planned and that gives me other ideas.

For instance in the screenshot you did you have the Seaport Waiting Room on the river and no seaport built yet :D That gives me ideas to make some houses to go on the coast. Some on the coastal slope and some in the water. We have houses like that in Australia, especially on the Hawkesbury River. The owner can sit on the front veranda/porch and fish to catch his breakfast.

So I going to re-do the AuzWaterObjects as mentioned in my object forum so the creeks and waterfalls are in their own object set. This will make room in AuzWaterObjects for the river houses maybe a house boat of 3 as well.

Cheers

PS Great screenshot you did. You really got me thinking what to do for mine now.

I'll get an entry in :D
City meets country in the Kakure Tani region. Fields and orchards surround the town of Owariasahi on a bright spring day, the cherry blossoms are in bloom and the roads and rails are bustling with activity.

@fredinho Excellent use of Garry's objects, I'll have to try and use more of those myself :D

My screenshot of a countryside has a railway mainline for heavy freight, passengers, and a connection for a company producing timber products. The road going through the small village of 4 houses serpentines at the mountain in the northeast.
There is some farming happening.
I don't know what else to say.Image

Finally got my screenshot did. This is Cougar Valley far north coast of New South Wales Australia. The Brisbane Limited Express train crossing the Cougal bridge on its way to Brisbane.
The Dairy Farms in the area also grow vegetables , corn, sugar cane and variety of tropical fruits.

Several years ago a circus was in town at Lismore to the south when a Crocodile escaped. No one seen it since. (Believe it or not that is a true story, happened in the 1960s)

Nothing says country like a country club! Today we introduce you to the very exclusive Big Country Country Club, dedicated to the wonderful world of golf with nine very challenging holes that feature the longest fairways in the sport, so long in fact that there are two shuttle buses to transport members between holes. Our members take our exclusive first class train directly from the city and are lodged in a variety of full service cottages conveniently located adjacent to each hole. Each tee and green features fully stocked caddy shacks and everything is centered around our lodge. Won't you spend a week with us?

Trees taken from the set - CZTR Tree set.
temporar8 just used your imagination as much as possible this time with a combination of game features  .
And your screenshot, Fredinho, is no less good in fact :D . Therefore, it is still unknown exactly who will be the winner this time.
