I made this totally useless piece of track, so let's call it 'art' or 'thought experiment'. This loop of track crosses over two tiles 3 times, without any track intersections. Trains can also make use of it.

You could add another level by building a sideways tunnel below your tunnels. In fact, it is possible to build an arbitrary number of stacked tunnels, all connected in a loop.
