Dol422's UK Screenshots
Re: Dol422's UK Screenshots
This is a random map which i have just created. I haven't done anything to it yet apart from load it up and screenshot it. There appears to be a few hilly areas which could make gameplay interesting. It is a 2048x4096 map. I will be trying my best to keep with this; my enthusiasm will probably dry up by the end of tonight. The main GRF's I use are anything to do with the UK. There are also some eyecandy GRF's in there which probably won't see much use, and some which won't be used at all.
Just the one screenshot for now. This is the map I will be working on. I will aim to fill this map with freight and passenger services alike in all forms all the while conforming to UK standards.

Hmmm...what's your GRF list ?
Also, looks really good. Are you using JGR's patchpack ?

Re: Dol422's UK Screenshots
It is JGR's patchpack I'm using
These are the GRFs that I'm currently using (2 screens as I couldn't put them all on one page). Also included here is the starting point I have chosen. Still nothing added. Yet. Took me about half an hour to find it though

Re: Dol422's UK Screenshots
I have the railway line built to a point where I can add in a small stopping service. The service is run by Chiltern Railways, who are running all stopping services in the south-west. This particular services runs from East Raynham - Winchester, calling at all intermediate stations en route. If required, there will be an express service covering the three cities on the route.

Re: Dol422's UK Screenshots
I have started up a bus service in East Raynham to gather some extra passengers for my trains. Due to capacity problems, I now have 5 bendy buses in place (4-stops and the majority of people only want to travel between the first two).
Also in this screenshot we can see another train route. The train is operating a stopping service on a branch line. This is the end of that branch line. And this is the current end of the mainline.

Re: Dol422's UK Screenshots
Some progress shots
Traffic has started becoming intense between East Raynham and Rocester. Rocester North has seen expansion of a third platform with a new stopping service going from East Raynham to Rocester, making only one other intermediate stop along the way. East Raynham itself has also seen the TMD expanded to accommodate 4 trains, as well as the station being extended to 9-tile length. Also in this screenshot, another bus route can be seen. This bus route runs both clockwise and counter-clockwise, serviced each way by 7 Wrightbus NB4L's. The branch line terminus at Llanhary South hasn't changed much, apart from the fact that all trains on this branch line will now service at Downholme TMD instead of at East Raynham, to make way for express and high speed services on what will later become the West Coast Main Line.

Re: Dol422's UK Screenshots
Meet Bishops Cannings, a small, growing settlement of less than 500 people. This is part of my expansion to get towns growing to have a massive city (like London), dominating the south-west corner of the map.
And here is another train route. This time the line will be operated by Central Trains 170s and Midland Mainline Class 222s. The latter won't be added until traffic starts reaching intensity, though. (Beware all the red writing, it took me a long time to populate the route.)
I'm trying to vary each of my station designs so that they look unique in their own right. A lot more stations are going to have station buildings instead of level crossings or bridges.

Re: Dol422's UK Screenshots
More progress shots.
This screenshot shows the expansion of Ixworth railway station. This is part of the first stage of a major upgrade of the main line to 4-track as far as Rocester North (for the time being). The expansion will help see new services on the line and increase capacity in some areas. For now, the station is split between the main line and the Llanhary branch. Next on the list is the new Train Maintenance Depot. It is set immediately east of Buckfastleigh and is designed to be used from both the north and south. This TMD will see services from here start at the current terminus of Isleham Valley to Raynham, in a bid to decrease congestion at East Raynham TMD. And finally, for now, is a view of the map and potential expansion points, which are yet to be decided. The line will go through St. Neots or Leighton Buzzard (the latter might become a branch or secondary line).

Re: Dol422's UK Screenshots
These are cool. Nice job!
Re: Dol422's UK Screenshots
And now the lines around Ixworth have changed completely. The Llanhary branch has been moved to the slow lines, and a review of all trains servicing Ixworth is currently taking place. The only thing left to do here would be to take out the inside platforms.
The waypoints separating the main line from the Llanhary branch have now gone, and will be replaced with new waypoints signifying the Up Slow and Up Fast lines.
The line between Glandford and Holywell and Bawtry is also currently in the process of quadrupling. The layout will eventually change with Glandford station on the western side of the town. For now, this will do.
Hopefully in the next batch of screenshots Ixworth and all trains associated with it will be sorted out. I am also hoping to complete the line 4-track as far as Rocester North very soon.Take a look at: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=74993

And now Ixworth and all associated trains are sorted. The express service has been withdrawn and will be replaced by high speed services. Ixworth is now a stopping station on a 4-track mainline.
This is the next stage of the process. Currently I am deciding what to do with Beverstone and Stratton Hall.
Final screenshot. This is yet another bus service going from East Raynham to Lea Upper, except it is going a little further to Norton Within.

Re: Dol422's UK Screenshots
Little question : why aren't the BK tunnels here ?
Re: Dol422's UK Screenshots
Haven't been playing in a while it seems. With regards to the question about the tunnels, I have no idea why they're not in the game, even though they have been activated.
I'm wondering whether just to leave upgrading the track for now and coming back to it later if traffic demands. I might even abandon this game and start a new one. We'll see what the future holds.
For now, here is a savegame for you all to look at. Feel free to do whatever you want with it.

Re: Dol422's UK Screenshots
Time for a new game.
Here is the map I will be working from. Again, I will be starting from the very beginning and posting any new developments.
NewGRFs are the usual. And here is the starting point. Here is where my network will grow from
Looking at it, buses will be the best way to start. Trains will come later:

Re: Dol422's UK Screenshots
Time for yet another new game.
I will hopefully manage to stay on this game for a while.. will see what the future holds.
The first screenshot shows the map which I will be working on. As with all my games, I will be playing to a standard which hopefully replicates the modern day UK rail network.
The second screenshot shows the starting point. I have chosen the sizeable southwestern town of Maer, which expands onto a tiny peninsula, providing plenty of opportunity for bus routes and possibly one or two rail routes. One thing to note is that there are no industries present within this game, as I have started taking the approach of building up a sizeable passenger network and then funding industries so that I can place them where I want them.
The NewGRF list will follow along with a screenshot of the first bus route.

Re: Dol422's UK Screenshots
The rail service has been completed and is now up and running.
Maer has been growing in the background, which has resulted in a total of 5 bus routes (two circular) serving the town and surrounding areas. Also seen is a ship service which I am setting up between Maer (via Woodmansey Valley) to Castle Gresley.
