Growl's UK Screenshots

Post by The Growl »

All my screenshots. :D

Cumbernauld started off as a small through station for the Welwyn - Sheffield Loco hauled service, and as an interchange for the Muni trams, but as time went on, it evolved into the biggest station on the map, serving as a major interchange point, handling 1000s of passengers an hour, with a large mix of both high speed, express, stopping, and metro wessex's coming in. The focus of the image being a new bought class 159 to replace the loss making 'dubbel decker' capacity stopping services previously on the line.

Here seen is the magnitude of cumbernauld junction, a major project to stop blockages on the line and allow more trains to run through, on time as well. The depot on the north east end is due to be replaced by a new Traction maintenance depot, like the type seen at Chester and Dartford, due to be used by more than just Pendolinos, to ensure on time trains, and top quality condition for unfortunately squashed passengers on most high speed and express services.

The new revamped dubbel deck Formby service exchanges 1st and 2nd class passengers at a lonely Banbury. The hillside station serves as an interchange point for tram and metro passengers changing for mainline services, and vice versa. The 3rd rail single platform is where the high capacity, and high frequency metro service takes huge amounts of people through the city cluster from Horsforth to Banbury and everywhere in between. The tram is possibly Alyx Link's longest line, using Twinhills to provide an alternative to the trains for those wanting to get from Banbury to Yelvertoft somewhat direct. The station has also recently become the subject of the four rail program to help stop blockages for mainline services, slow and fast alike. The approaching train on the left is a Formby HS train negotiating short inclines and tight turns.

A new facelift for some units give some new found variety over the previous red/grey configuration found almost anywhere on the network. The new paint job for passenger trains is shown to effect on a Gravesend Tram, supporting the surprisingly popular heritage line, and a Sheffield stopping services carriages hauled by Growler.

Thanks for the comments Dol. :)

Here we see Keighley, the metro center of the network. Buses, both metro lines, and Intercity rail services terminate and pass through here. While not as busy as Cumbernauld or Horsforth, it serves as a vital interchange point along the journey, and even features multiple stations buildings, it's own subway system, and a car park is planned to be built.

The new Heysham TMD, opened only a few months ago will soon serve all services as far as keighly and chester on the Keighly line. In the background Chester, a massive interchange station is seen, as well as a new Class 390/1 to replace the /0s which had a lower capacity after passenger complaints of excess heat in the overcrowded situation. Currently only the Lotchberger and Chester Pendolinos use the Depot with more to all services using the depot once expansions have been made, and more staff have been drafted in to maintain the site.

The first services at Welwyn North form the Sandhurst service comprised of class 313 units. The service is infrequent to account for capacity for other services coming onto the line such as the soon coming metro and express toward the North East. Volvo B7TLs connecting Haversham and the south of Welwyn to existing services.

The new timesaving loop at Welwyn takes up space but allows for services to continue their timetable with minimal disruption.

Quidhampton has temporary 444 desiros in to be used on the commuter service until 450 desiros come in from a multi million pound order from Siemens who manufacture the train. The 444s will be sent back to the factory and casacaded to the express services once the 450s arrive.

The first new tram system of NAL's in over perhaps nearly a century is seen in operation. 4 metrorail S70 vehicles serve Banbury and the surrounding areas and provide fast cheap no emission transport with high capacity. More tramways planned are to replace some bus services which have been losing money.

Commuter Chaos! A double train collison outside Cumbernauld will see services halted and rescheduled at a time where capacity and late running trains are at an all time high. The accidents happened while re signalling works and separating mainline services by four tracks where happening. Commuters on the Sheffield Mainline will have temporary buses running to get to the places they want.

Normality has been prevailing on the affected lines, and with benefits, faster services, and new trains, things have never been better for Sheffield Line commuters. Railjet consists replace Pendolinos, class 185s replace DB class 243s, and the adelantes receive a new livery to look on par with the class 185s units, and the Lotschberger Express train deemed unnecessary has been removed to ease line congestion.

Mintminister Transport have started off operations with the Penston Direct Line, encompassing a fast service with Class 442 Wessex electrics in the orange stripes livery, and brand new 3 coach Class 375 units, in metro blue. 2 trains on the slow line are seen departing Chundchurch South.

The other line is the Penston via Lostable branch, which encompasses ex Connex 4 coach class 375 trains. This service goes fast through stations shared with trains on the Direct line, but stops at every station on it's exclusive section.

The 0256 to Penston South Direct exchanges passengers at Combe Street where passengers can continue their journey on a train via Lostable, or by bus into the city. The seaside town will soon see more services pass through this large, though somewhat empty station as the line diverges and expands to more locations.
