Re: Screenshot Of The Month Competition - July 2016
You are right. I got a bit carried away there. Entries from all time periods should be valid. However it is a bit more specific then the themes we usually have, so we might have less entries than usual. I don't want to narrow it down too much, so I think entries from all time periods should be valid, even if someone wants to do a theoretical future Orient Express.
Re: Screenshot Of The Month Competition - July 2016
Just realised it wouldnt fit the theme anyway as the VSOE pullman didnt start until 1982
Re: Screenshot Of The Month Competition - July 2016
well done Doidki you deserved to win that round !
Re: Screenshot Of The Month Competition - July 2016
I suggest a common theme of "Express long distance". In this topic you can also include the Orient Express and many other Express trains exist in the real world. And the requirements are the same - real place traffic Express long distance. Anyone can show real photos of motion of the Express. Do you like this idea, doikdi?

Yeeah, .... I noticed that my idea is a bit confusing. It's not that important for me the theme. I just want to build stuff. I sent a PM to Jake. Maybe he can choose a theme well suited for everybody.

I like doikdi's title "Orient Express". That train set the standard for "named" trains, many of which still exist today. Include STD's suggestion to allow any "named" train and we'll have lots of variety to choose from.

Now everything depends on the decision of our moderator Jake. And the theme is really very good . Waiting for a final decision in theme selection .

Re: Screenshot Of The Month Competition - July 2016
I like the theme too, no need to change it in my opinion. As I see it all things related to the route the Orient Express took can be ok.
And even though that actual train is not in a set, I dont think that the raillines were exclusive to just that particular train, I think a lot of other kinds of trains went on those tracks too

Re: Screenshot Of The Month Competition - July 2016
The way it usually works is that the winner sets a theme by choosing a few words and let the other players interpret it however they want. I don't see why this should be any different - doikdi chose the words "Orient Express" and that's what we'll use, but it's still very open to interpretation. For example it could include a location along the route without having the actual train in it, or another named (real or imaginary) train that was inspired by the Orient Express, or just an express that happens to be in the Orient.
We'll stick with the words, as for how you interpret them, that's left up to the voters
edit: It seems I forgot to "officially" open the entries earlier, but it's open now, so get screenshotting!

Two post-WWI OE trains meet in the Alpes, passing by an abandoned factory. Both trains are still in wartime liveries as this is winter 1918-1919.

Re: Screenshot Of The Month Competition - July 2016 - ENTRIES
I see that this month is not enough entries from the players, although the theme is not complicated at all. Perhaps the players are accustomed to more General topics. Still have a little over a week until the end of the month. Maybe someone else will send an entry to participate. I hope that more than 5 participants will be this time .
Those who have already sent, have beautiful screenshots .
