[OTTD] Some screenshots by Dr. B. Ching (2.0)

Post by Dr. B. Ching »

Hey guys,

I posted some screenshots back in 2011, but unfortunately they're no longer online. Sorry about that! I'll use the attachment feature of the forum to prevent it from happening again. Anyway, don't expect long-winded descriptions here, as I can't spare the time anymore ...apologies! I'll be posting updates occasionally as my game progresses. Enjoy the screenshots and if you have questions etc, by all mean don't hesitate to comment!

I'm still using the excellent highmap by Espee and the same two patches (you can find the links on the other thread). The parameters of this game are:

Image
  • Day-length factor of 12
  • Realistic acceleration (RVs, trains)
  • Slope steepness of 3 % (do.)
  • Weight multiplier of one
  • Plane speed factor of 1/1
  • Breakdowns disabled
Kind Regards,
The Axe

Thanks man! Time for another batch of pictures, I feel! Let's look at Nuley for a moment, which is one of the most important transportation hubs in the region.

More freight means more trains! After only a couple years, the at-grade junction was causing endless delays and I came up with this ugly-but-efficient arrangement, relatively speaking. I don't know either, but it seemed like a good idea at the time!

Frankly, I couldn't stand that mess of overpasses anyone and decided to redo the entire thing from scratch. Here's the last train descending from the 1916 approach to Nuley.

Looks rather nicer, wouldn't you agree? Also used this opportunity to forbid towns from building, you know, the usual mess they call a road network. Should have done so much earlier!

Another eyesore I had to take care of: Gartminster junction. About 50% of my freight trains have to pass through here.

Nice road network. I tend to transfer a lot of freight to road when you get powerful trucks later in the game, to decongest my railways and tramways.

I appreciate the comments! Trucks aren't all that viable before the first articulated vehicles show up, yeah. I've already moved some traffic to industrial trams and cargo ships, though.

The biggest town on this branch line has ~320 inhabitants, yet two railbuses couldn't keep up with the demand. I'm playing with a daylength factor of 12, so I'm not sure how useful they would be in a 'normal' (unmodified) game.
