[OTTD] Screens by Valdez
Re: [OTTD] Valdez's Screenshots
1) Ah, progress! Currently, GER operates 14 AEC railcars - 6 as single cars with a mail carriage, one 3-car set and three 4-car sets. Here, one of the 4-car sets can be seen
2) The map as promised, dates to 1936. First and second part of the network are already connected.
3) Detail of the southeastern edge of the map

Re: [OTTD] Valdez's Screenshots
Brilliant shots. Like the Sunderland layout a lot.
What's the plan for Sunderland sidings then? I see you've bought some land next to them.

Re: [OTTD] Valdez's Screenshots
Very very nice screenshots, Valdez. It seems you play at TT "in the realistic way". Good thing, it's the kind of gaming I like. Bravo! If I can give you a suggestion, try to place less signals on two-track lines. Usually in my games I create blocks long twice the maximum train length.
Re: [OTTD] Valdez's Screenshots
Something more...
1) In an attempt to improve journey times between large cities in the southwest, several streamlined A4s were purchased...
2) This doesn't sound good..
3) Part of a new line along the eastern coast, near its terminus at Nottingham

Re: [OTTD] Valdez's Screenshots
1) Some good news for a change. In the background, the main station in Headingley can be seen in its full glory..
2) As a cost-cutting measure an all-black livery for all locomotives is introduced. It looks acceptable on most engines, but doesn't suit either the Streamliners or the Railcars too well..
3) Light traffic around Ware. The black livery is already deeply unpopular with the travelling public, giving the 3-piece railcar set some rather unpleasant nicknames

Re: [OTTD] Valdez's Screenshots
1942 - bad year for the world, good year for the company. All main parts have been connected into a single network. Now its time to fill in the gaps.
1) Heavy coal train between Jarrow and Sale, hauled by a pair of older 0-6-0s..
2) Pair of passenger trains on the Nottingham-York Line. If you look closely, you may notice one of them is hauled by a freight 0-6-0. Why?
3) This is why. It can climb such a demanding terrain with little effort. Plus, it costs just a little more than a Pannier Tank

Some more (boring) screens:
1) Part of the Sale-York-Treviscoe mainline, west of York
2) York mainline station with some passenger traffic
3) Updated network map (August 1942)

Re: [OTTD] Valdez's Screenshots
1) Camberley farm with some cargo trucks. Distance between the farm and the factory (just off the lower left edge of the screen) and traffic on the line in between made rail traffic impractical - yet I had to try with (now scrapped) 0-6-0 trams..
2) Black & white shot of Crewe, important junction on the Horwich-Kirkby electrified line
3) Part of York-Ormskirk-Barrow main line, fairly recently built (~1942, screen dates from early 1945)

Re: [OTTD] Valdez's Screenshots
Some new screens
1) In late 1945, new company liveries were introduced. Electric engines were painted bright blue..
2) Steam engines, like this Merchant Navy 4-6-2, now use dark green...
3) Same for diesel engines and DMUs..

Re: [OTTD] Valdez's Screenshots
Is it possible to have an updated map to better follow the growing of your network? Thanks .

Some maps per Ivan's request..
1) Map of the entire network. Note that some of the lines are still under construction and are therefore devoid of traffic of any kind..
2) Detailed map of the southeastern edge of the map
3) Current rail engine inventory. As of late 1945, Great Eastern Railway uses 360 rail engines, 106 RVs, 11 ships and 4 airplanes.

Re: [OTTD] Valdez's Screenshots
Thank you very much.
Re: [OTTD] Valdez's Screenshots
More silly stuff Game year is 1951..
1) Heavy coal train near Basildon (part of the station can be seen in the upper right corner). This is about the heaviest load, which the 2-8-0 can haul at a reasonable (=60+ kph) speed... I really look forward to the 2-10-0 9F...
2) One of the first mainline diesels on the network, used for heavy non-stop expresses between Basildon and Axminster
3) Some description here. Nobody really reads these anyway

Re: [OTTD] Valdez's Screenshots
I really like the Guildford area .
Re: [OTTD] Valdez's Screenshots
Thanks
1) Crunch. My newest AEC Regal bus has just turned into several tons of scrap metal and minced meat. The silly thing is - the crossing here existed in this form for nearly 30 game years, with the road traffic being bunch of plodding 40kph buses.. Then I upgraded to something faster - bang.
2) Headingley isn't exactly a little city anymore...
3) Even big, slow ferries have their uses..
