1) Light traffic just east of Niederfeld

2) Detail shot of Offenstadt main station. Hardly any traffic here, many of the long-distance trains are stuck around Nortbrück.

3) Even BR 232s have their uses when it comes to passenger duties, like this Offenstadt-Albmund IR train.

Thanks :)

1) Nortbrück is a massive bottleneck on the Offenstadt - Neu Urhorst mainline. While complete deadlock isn't possible, the waiting times are rather long. In retrospect, building a reversal station (not a true terminus) on a 4-track mainline was just asking for trouble, especially with the post-1980 traffic increase. Here's a sample of the traffic here:
  • Neu Urhorst-Offenstadt, some continuing to Vorfurt. InterRegio and InterCity, BR 103s and BR 111s, 10 trains total.
  • Nortbrück-Neu Urhorst, InterRegio and regional (all-stop), BR 111s, 6 trains total.
  • Nortbrück-Sonnenwald, InterRegio and regional, BR 111s, 4 trains total.
  • Nortbrück-Offenstadt, some continuing to Vorfurt. InterRegio, BR 111s, 5 trains total.
  • Nortbrück-Offenstadt S-Bahn, BR 420s, 4 trains.
  • Nortbrück-Roswald via Bremen, BR 614s, regional, 2 trains.
  • Nortbrück-Düsselhaven, InterRegio (continuing to Sonnenfurt) and regional, BR 216s (V160) and BR 614s, 4 trains total.
  • Nortbrück-Nienbrück-Albmund, InterRegio (continuing to Fulda) and regional, BR 216s and BR 614s, 4 trains total.
  • Nortbrück-Nienbrück-Hersmünster, regional, BR 614s, 2 trains.
  • Nortbrück-Nienbrück-Saarbrücken, some continuing to Salzfurt, InterRegio and InterCity, BR 216s (with some V200s about to be replaced), 4 trains total.
  • Nortbrück-Nienbrück-Waldwald, InterRegio, BR 216s, 2 trains.
2) Since just throwing location names around is poor manners, here's the map. As usual, red = electrified, green = planned.

3) Station reconstruction in progress. While Nortbrück citizens protest against the demolition of the old station building (and a considerable portion of the city itself), the council is looking the other way (they better be - the bribes weren't cheap). Apart from general capacity increase, I intend to build separate S-Bahn and regional platforms (as seen on the upper end of the station) so that these trains won't interfere with mainline traffic.

Nortbrück 21 instead of Stuttgart 21 LOL. Looks nice only the new station looks too massive.

Goodluck, rebuilding the thing. PS. were are all the trains gone?

Yeah, new stations are a tad big, but who cares, its your game haha
Ummm. just as a pointer, I noticed how theres a lot of congestion at your stations, trains waiting to leave platforms (3 at a time I think). You might consider looking at improving system efficiency?
But otherwise, pretty good. :D

I think the congestion problem is the reason I'm redesigning Nortbrück station :D Though that might be well caused by my building style - I tend to aim for a compromise between efficiency and realistic layout, with all the problems such compromise implies (i.e. strengths of neither and weaknesses of both).
As you could see in my previous post, the redesign is rather simple - enlarge the station (14 vs. 10 platforms), rotate 90 degrees, make it a through station.

1) Place: Würzwald S-Bahn station, just west of Nortbrück
Cause: my messing up with PBS while modifying the track
Trains involved: an Offenstadt-Nortbrück S-Bahn BR 420 and Roswald-Nortbrück BR 614
End result: both trains totaled, 78 dead.

2) The new Nortbrück station and its western approach. First trains just showed up. I think I did a good job on this part (even though the station size might well be an overkill), the eastern approach (off-screen) might need some fine tuning.

3) Well.. with my attention divided between Nortbrück, building of new ICE high-speed lines and managing some 500 trains, I somehow missed this. A real BR 01, still hauling its assigned fast goods train between Niederfeld and Cottbus an der Donau, in 1992. Since I can build BR 112s now, it's about to be replaced..

Make a Depot, or old yard to a museum and put the BR01 on display there. I always like to keep some of my old loco's and got old yards or lines in my games.

Those are under the extra feature menu of the canadian station set.
Some other sets also have this feature.

1) Another veteran, one of the last two BR16s. Originally the mainstay of electrified line expresses, they have been pushed into seondary duties with the arrival of the post-war electrics

2) An updated map in 1994.

3) Detail of the southern part of the map

It's nice. Maybe an idea to demolish the line through Falkenmünster and relay it north of the city to connect the line to the stahlwerk and the line toward the station of Elbmüster.
