I've been playing on and off on this save for a few months when I've had time, figured I'd post for old time's sake. :)

I present to you Alaska Railroad, a NARS2/FIRS game started in 1869. In this game I'm mostly ignoring passenger traffic and just focusing on long heavy freight trains. It's currently 1937 and I figured we could start off with some before and after shots.

1899. Humble beginnings in Levelock. A single track serves Levelock Mines plus several dredging sites off the coast.

1924. A mainline has been built through the mountainous regions further south and one platform has been demolished to make way.

1937. A passenger service is finally in the making, a welcome addition for this booming town.

Thanks. Man, you know you haven't played OpenTTD for a while when you think you're using the default track set but aren't. Apparently I'm using "Swedish Rails 0.8.1". :)

Great screenshots. How did you use the standard graphics without gridlines?

Thanks, I think the grf is called "no grid map" or something rather. I found it on Bananas ingame.

Edit: No grid land it's called. Here's the full list for anyone interested.

No problem. Map is posted above. :)

Another before and after showing the sawmill in 1924 and 1940. I prefer how it looked in 1924 tbh, but longer trains are needed in these modern times!

Here's a pic of the quite busy oil refinery, this is an example of the space restrictions on this map. It's either water or mountains here so plan accordingly or get the excavators. :)

And as a contrast to the oil refinery, two of the steepest grades on the map at Manoktak and Nome. The only parts of the network built above the snow line are these logging routes and Deering Pass.
