I've made a very basic one for my latest screenshots (see siggy). It's a very simple Photoshop job.

It is 1944, and Silesius Transport (inaug: 1935) has been expanding it's railway network beyond it's original five station: Leeuwenmaar, Oostermuiden, Heerhugelmeden, Oostheuvel and Kollumestad.

The route Oostheuvel - Wamsohage is being serviced by the 10000 trainseries, and consists of the 10001 through 10004. These are all Mat '34.

The route Tertrecht - Oostermuiden is being serviced by the 11000 series, and consists of 11001 through 11003. All are Mat '41.

Plans are to expand northward beyond Hildrijk, but none of those plans are concrete yet.

---------------
I know the map looks a bit stupid, but... meh. I didn't want just sharp curves. Should have done that anyway, but hindsight is always 20/20.

EDIT: Distances are not accurate. Location of the cities is an approximation.

Doesn't look stupid at all, I rather like it in fact :)

I guess I must accept that compliment then.
I honestly believed the wiggle at the bottom looked off when I posted it, but if you disagree... well!

EDIT: And updated.
EDIT2: Aaaaand I made some stupid mistakes in that game with no earlier save to go back to. Bah, first game I'm playing seriously in a long time, and I have start a new one after only 19 years of play-time. Bugger.

A hand-drawn map of my BPT-game...it is a little mess, especially in the east, but it is an attempt.

Network maps of CityRail (something like metro) and CityFerry in my tropical city Nunnville:

CityRail has got 7 lines, all of them starts in station called Main Station because of it's strategic location.

CityFerry runs in 2 lines on Bratfingbridge lake. This type of transport is new in Nunnvile, so it has got only 3 stations.

Tezzy! That's a very cool network map. How did you do it? I mean, which software did you use?

It takes either 1 train with 8 carriages or 500 cars to move 1000 people. Simple math.

Wouldn't it be possible to automatically generate these kind of network maps, based on the order lists in TTD?
That way, even an in-game abstract network map visualisation would be possible!
Attachments
I made this a view months ago, not to visualise the existing network, but to plan the whole network that needed to be build!

That is my next idea aswell, make the networkmap beforehand and plan the entire thing ahead. That way i can probably avoid a lot of the constant editing of existing rails and such.

It already is possible, just not with the stable nor trunk OTTD. You have to download the "cargodest" build (do some search).

No, that is not what I mean.
Line maps can be generated from the order-list, the graphs shown in cargodest/dist only show that stations are connected, not how (which trainroutes).

*Blows dust off*

I'll try to get this topic back up again by showing off the map of my current Pax-network, or the biggest connected part of the InterCity train service, that is. Most stations have bus-feeders, some even s-Bahn-like feeders - none of those are shown (as that would make the map even messier - go figure...).
Towns are not placed geographically correct.

Anyways: What do you think?
