Hehehe, thanks my friend. Yesterday I tried to upload a video and the savegame, but my internet conection was very slow and I got bored hahaha.

[Updated: 7 March 2009]

-New timetables for R1
-Added some new services at R3
-Added all services at R4 and R7.

TTD Folder (60 mb aprox): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ASPY7YN6
Savegame (7 mb): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5SBME9H8

I'll post only my savegame next times, for the first time you need my folder for grfs and configuration.

Commuter timetables simplified(I spelt well?):
Horarios Pl Ca2t.xls
In this excel you can see timetables that all commuter services at R1, R3, R4 and R7. I added a "tutto" to understand it ;)
(39 KiB) Downloaded 223 times
And in a few hours I'll post some videos. I'll post videos and not screenshots, for watching trains running. I think is the best way to show schedules  .

TIP: If you want to download the savegame and running it, maybe you'll lost into a lot of trains and into a 8000x8000 map that you never seen. I recommend you watching my excels and this website http://www.trenscat.com/renfe/ to get an idea of that are you watching.
TIP2: Some stations have got in his name "Sense Servei" in catalan, it means "Without service". Some stations and some railines have been builded quite different from reality to allow the schedules. Remember that TTD is an unrealistic game, and this is why I like to do realistic things into unrealitisc game, it's funny

Think that my freight trains often start his service very very early (5.00 am) for avoiding the rush hour in the way to Barcelona. But there is no problem because first commuter and regional trains of the day are running behind this freight train  First regional direction Girona starts at 6.00 am in Barcelona Sants.

How build 24h timetables:

I will start with a very simplistic timetables usage with planes.
I have 2 airports: Barcelona Airport and Palma Airport. First of all you have to calculate the distance between two airports using "Autofill" option of your timetable.
Horario incompleto.PNG
Horario incompleto.PNG (33.3 KiB) Viewed 6394 times
In this particular case I obtain this times:
1) 3m 1s stay in the Airport
2) 1h 23m 44s heading to Barcelona Air to Palma Air (the same for coming back)
3) 8m 49s going to the Hangar for having a service

I recomend editting this times a little:
1) 10m stay in the Airport (Have you ever seen a plane that only needs 3 minutes in the Airport?) This time will be very usefull because it will delete little delays that can happen easily
2) 1h 25m heading between Airports
3) 9 or 10 min going to maintenance

We have now the times needed for building a good 24h service between 2 airports. I think that 1 plane every 2 hours between 6.00 o' clock and 22.00 o'clock (departure times at Barcelona Airport) will be usefull.

Now repeat the orders as many times as you need and put the times. You will have something like this:
A.D.I.F., 9 Mar 2034#1.png
(191.27 KiB) Downloaded 135 times
You can see that departure times in Barcelona are:
6.00, 8.00, 10.00, 12.00, 14.00, 16.00, 18.00, 20.00 and 22.00

And departures of Mallorca to Barcelona are:
8.00, 10.00, 12.00, 14.00, 16.00, 18.00, 20.00, 22.00 and 0.00

The only that you need is that total time is: 24.00h or 48.00h (You need 2 vehicles with the same orders to the last option)

Here you are the first explanation of timetabling with 24h. Very easy to understand with this example  . Trains are more complicated :?

Thanks a lot. Now I continue the tutto:

How to timetabling railines: Commuter railines (Part 1)

Now we know how to do simplistic schedules with planes and with 24h duration. In this part I'll explain how to organizate a shared railine where more than 2 commuter lines work.

In this case, first I builded all the infraestructure and then I thinked about the organization of the 3 commuter railines of FGC (Catalan railways): S1, S2 and S5 (Suburban commuter).

There are network with destinations.
mapa network.PNG
mapa network.PNG (33.98 KiB) Viewed 6160 times
The next part is thinking about service starting and finishing. In this case the first train service is near 4.25 and last arrives at 1.25 aprox.
Now, we have to decide the train frecuences. In this case basic train frecuence is 20 min aprox for S1 and S2 services. S5 services only will be able to help S1 and S2.

Then, we have to put 1 train every game hour (60 game min = 20 real min).
For building charts I use excel. Then, for avoiding that there are 2 trains with the same schedule but different service (for example, think that 2 trains arrives at the same time to Barcelona) I use a station where two railines stops, for example: Barcelona-Provença.

The result.
There is the real information about this railine: http://www.trenscat.com/metrovalles/linies_ct.html

I hope you understand it :)

You have only to organizate in a chart your services and then put them in the game using the first tutorial with planes. I think the most difficult part is organizate services with fast trains with less stops. I'll explain how to do a railine shared by intercities and commuter trains soon

I've been looking at your game, and it's really amazing to watch... it would be interesting to see what capacity you can get running through the busiest lines without trains ever forcing one another to stop.

I think I'm going to have to have a go at this myself... I've always liked the idea of specifying the platform, track etc the train takes, but it always ended up with trains blocking one another... obviously fixed-length timetables for each train is the way to go for that! :-)

Oh, and my OTTD tells me that the timetables are 48 hours long... is that just because we use a different number of vsecs per tick?

I use 1 second per tick and If the journey is too much long I use 48h timetables.
In the busiest lines I use a time space between trains of 10 game minutes. My timetables are builded for avoing forced stops, but is no perfect because some delays are produced by slow load... (A station that generates a lot of pax get empty. A train arrives and starts to load pax, but it don't stop only for 3 min, it stop even it is full :| )

My intercity trains have 48h timetables, there are 2 trains with the same orders, but different day time.
You can see intercity trains and freight trains timetables in this excel

cool stuff, was wondering if you could clear something up for me. when I build trains and fill in the timetable and give it a start date it runs up and down smoothly, but when I clone the train
and give the other train a start date that has a three hour difference the first train changes its original start time and starts running in a complete different manner. and thus if it's supposed to run from 7am till say 10pm it will change and start running from 3 am till 6 pm. have you had this problem? and any advice? because I'd like my trains not to run between 2am and 5 am.
thanks.

Did you just clone, or did you create a shared order clone?

Oh, one thing I forgot, Artamir. How long do you set trains to wait for in each station? I'd look at the save game, but I'm messing about with my HDD at the moment :-)

I have realised what the problem was, I was messing it up without noticing when I would scroll back time the start date would change......"walks away red faced"
