Top:
As well as building the new (and extra long) passenger line from Little Munbridge to Dredhill, we have also seen to the continued growth of Donston, with new roads, and a larger station, now with bypass lanes. The late 40s bring two very unwelcome buildings: statues and fountains. As commercial buildings are replaced by the lesser decorative structures, towns shrink and passenger/mail numbers dwindle, resulting in less profit.

Middle:
Little Munbridge station. Most of our trains are now either Streamliners or Merchant Navys, and none of our Standard Fives stop at Little Munbridge, although one can be seen to the west. The long 5-tile train at the station operates a direct service between Little Munbridge and Fretfingbourne, our longest non-stop train journey.

Bottom:
The newly constructed southern rails go through mostly forests and plains, and it is an excellent opportunity for our 4-6-2s to fully utilise their top speeds (if you look at the map, you'll see that there are some very nice slopes for them). The highlight of the otherwise monotonous line is Druntfingley Market lake.

Top:
Two Streamliners, fresh down from the slopes and still above 160km/h, whistle past a Merchant Navy-hauled train, which has just picked up speed. If you give them just a small downwards incline, they can accelerate very quickly and hold a constant speed of over 140km/h.

Middle:
Now trains can not only go past Druntfingley Market, they can actually stop there! Druntfingley Market is a standard two-platform through station, with an extra platform in the middle that is bi-directional, just like the one at Wrunnpool Bridge, shown in the OTTD screenshots thread.

Bottom:
You can see that 1/4 of Little Hendingstone is statues, and another 1/4 is fountains. Little Hendingstone Valley was given two extra tunnels in 1934, which have served it well, but have become redundant now that passenger numbers are so few. In the skies, we can see an old DC-3, an Armstrong Whitworth, and a few Lockheed Constellations.

Wrennford junction is the best train spotting location on the map. Long distance and commuter trains share tracks for a short while on this junction. The screenshot also features our two EE 10000s, hauling quite lengthy passenger/mail trains.

A ferry and mail service was soon in place between Druntfingley Market and Little Hendingstone. The ships needed to pass under the railway, but it turned out we had no bridges with a speed limit above 160km/h, so instead we built a set of tunnels and the ship canals on top.

EDIT: Yes, um, from the screenshot, the canal water is so deep that it looks as if the water goes into the tunnels...but that's just where my steam trains pick up water for their boilers.

Some screenshots of Little Hendingstone Transport's latest route, from Dredhill to Fronninghall, Sludington, and finally Donston. Trains need travel only short distances between stations, perfect for MUs, but there are none yet, so I'm using EE 10000s.

There is already a route between Dredhill and Donston, but those two cities are so big that simply placing train stations on different ends will result in completely different lines. This is the more longer and more mountainous Dredhill-Donston route.

The map. Note that the big station south of Dredhill is connected to the airport and the central station, forming one giant station complex covering large swathes of the city. The same does not apply for the Donston station.

Donston Heights, end of the line. There's a first-come first-serve terminus platform, while the other two are designed to handle much heavier traffic. The three northern platforms are for other commuter trains from Donston, but I won't go into detail.

An EE 10000 doesn't have as much horsepower as a Merchant Navy, but it does have higher TE, and is considerably cheaper to run, excellent for short but hilly journeys.

You can see that these trains sport the new passenger/mail wagon liveries, introduced at the turn of the decade. The top-right EE 10000 came from Dredhill, via Fronninghall. Having just climbed up a loop, it will soon need to negotiate a serpentine.

And lastly, Dredhill itself. It's not a very original station given its size, with the exception of the extra large station building.

Good to see the UKRS. I love that set, so realistic, my current game uses it and the more challenging pricing makes the game a lot better IMO. Keep the screenies coming!

After a brief two-year lull in railway construction, Little Hendingstone Transport's engineers were ordered to expand northwards, to the towns (soon-to-be cities, hopefully) Hatfingbridge, Tennington, and Tinham. All 3 of them are to the north of Fretfingbourne, which survived the initial onslaught of statues and fountains, and has reached a population of over 64,000!

As usual, we start with the map. You can see that Hatfingbridge is connected to Tennington for the local trains, while it also has rail leading to Sindhead Cross and the rest of the network.

The company wasn't just doing nothing for 2 years before the new railways were constructed. A lot of stations were re-designed and junctions made more efficient, so I'll use this opportunity to show them.

Although the network is constrained in some parts, meaning that trains can't reach everywhere from anywhere, passengers can get to anywhere, as long as we have at least a bus station there, provided they know where to get off and on. Let's take a journey from the coastal resort of Chinborough, all the way up to Hatfingbridge.
Attachments
Our train passes through Munbridge junction, a messy one because of the terrain. It's not bad for a mountain junction though, and the slopes are relatively friendly for both short and long trains.

We don't have to wait long at Mabridge station to hear the whistle of a Merchant Navy, with a long-haul non-stop train to Fretfingbourne.

At the moment, Chinborough relies on a trio of 0-6-0 Pannier tanks to get commuters in and out of the coastal city. Our train just departed from the station and is heading for Mabridge.

Our train has continued good luck throughout the Sindhead Cross area, and heavy traffic is only upon us when we're just about to leave the junction and enter a short tunnel.

Most of Sindhead Cross' business district is around the train station, and it's a busy place with lots of congestion. Fortunately, the junction is free of trains and we speed by without delays.

We pass a small junction in the middle of nowhere. Our train had to wait for another 4-6-2, since the mountain pass is partly single-track. The train nearest the coast is a non-stop express from Hatfingbridge to Sindhead Cross, and it gets its own tracks.

Continued from above. Almost there. :)

Our current Fretfingbourne train station is right in the city centre, with excellent coverage of the buildings. Unfortunately, it's facing south, while we want our new trains to go north, so we built 5 new platforms (connected to the old ones, of course, so the coverage area gets even larger) to the north-west of the city.
Attachments
Our train arrives at the station, while another departs from it. This station features a large and more modern station building, and also its very own parking space. The eastern platforms will not be used until Tinham gets sufficiently large.

Very nice! I'm quite tempted now to get back into OpenTTD aswell, while lacking in some features, I like how those towns of yours turned out :).

Should be very interesting when OpenTTD gets newhouses support merged with trunk.
