Looks like the old "bug", or rather, oversight. There aren't enough houses pre-1920 so the game just builds those banks. I think there was some talk about fixing it:
viewtopic.php?f=26&t=8878&hilit=banks+i ... 0#p1022631

dunno which version you're using, though. Or maybe it didn't work, no idea.

Hmm, I'll have to experiment a bit. I'm pretty sure I have the latest version - I keep my newgrfs up to date, and I just started the game on Sunday. Maybe I have a parameter set incorrectly or something.

I'll have to give that one another try. There was something I didn't like about them, but that was a while ago. I might consider using the Canadian town pieces if it didn't interfere with OGFX Airports - I love the rotation options :)

I think this last attempt -
download/file.php?id=165667
wasn't ever uploaded to Bananas. But I honestly don't know, I'm kinda inclined towards Swe Houses or the Japanese stuff lately ;)

In progress water taxi test number 2 (ugly). I have the pathing sorted out and its back down to 1 grid width. Basically, don't give the ships any room to move except forward. I also switched to Swedish houses - I don't know what I didn't like before, but so far its a vast improvement.

Yes, definitely better. The scene looks kind of medieval, with that moat around the town. Copenhagen still has large parts of the moats that were dug in defence against the Swedes, where you can go for canal trips on open ferries in the summertime.

Here's an updated version. I think I went a little overboard on the parkland lining the moat :)

Now that I think about it, there is that newgrf that has the old fortress walls you can build. It might be fun to build a city with an old wall still surrounding it, maybe a mote, some other fortifications.

The old island fort town of Holden is prospering in the 20th century, thanks to tourism and infrastructure investments.

I started a Wastelands game (actually several, but I'm finally getting the hang of it). I decided to focus on building up one town to start. I've got 6 level 2 buildings now, so I figure its almost time to start on another so that they'll eventually be able to trade passengers.

That colour scheme really does help to show the drab and depressing world of a wasteland game.

I have to say these are some very impressive screenshots, can I ask though what GRF is that parkland/sea harbour wall you got going there?, it looks awesome!

Its the INFRA Green set by SAC. The full version isn't available on Bananas or here, so you have to go to Simuscape.com to get it. I also the used the City Objects set, as its trees and sidewalks closely match the INFRA set, and plugs a few gaps. Throw in the VAST parks and stuff for more scenery.

In the upper left, the First Protestant Church of Rochester. Across the street, the First Protestant Church of Rochester, Reformed. The congregations separated after an infamous fruit salad debacle blamed on both Mrs Edna Barnstable and Mrs Dorothy Bates, the pastors wife.
