I couldn't resist...

Post by Hellfire »

... playing around a bit with OpenGL...

So I created a little program that generates a flat squared 32x32 map, with two points raised a bit.

You can press the space bar to raise a random point.

Is this useful? Probably not, but it was fun to do. Check it out if you want to.

btw: it rotates around the map!

Before I forget... I haven't tested this program on any other PC than mine and my little brother's. If it works on your PC, please let me know.

Yes, this works. Starts off as a green plane rotating with a few lumps. Space bar gives more raised points.

what's this then TT2 v1.0alpha?

1Ghz , 384 DDR, GrForce 2 MX 64mb 400 ....works ok at both (fullscreen and window)... only slows when I hold down space (but it should) ... maybe it isn't TT2 yet ... to name it that we need add possibility to put and move objects first

you should speak with rein ... it is pointless to do onegame by two people

This was not meant to be an engine for TT2. I played around a bit with OpenGL this afternoon (and you can still see NeHe's title on the framework I used), and I came up with this.

It gives a very short answer to the question "How to display a height map using OpenGL"

And the square tiles aren't being broken up properly.

Oops... I did it again :)

No seriously... rein was right. Tringle maps ARE more difficult to implement. But not impossible  (check the .exe) :D

Thanks for the tip... But this is not an engine. I will throw away the entire code. I was just playing around a bit with OpenGL and decided to give you all some eye candy...

I know... But I'm going to wait for rein on that one.

In the mean time you could play around with 3DTT or Simutrans for a while ;)
