Never thought of importing my models into Carmagedon  How does it handle?

Your bus isn't any worse than my bus a good few pages back. That was basically a box with window textures on it!

While crazed-graphics-nut's graphics are very nice, its times like this I'm glad I chose to view this thread on my college's nice T1 line, instead of my home dialup one.

3D Studio Max 5 and one was rendered in 3DSM6. I prefer 5, as the Trainz plug in is compatable with that version, and besides, I have had problems opening most of my models in 6, so I use both.

1 to 2 months on and off, my life has become soo busy lately, that what I would like to do, gets queued, and sorted into order. The only thing is that I often get side tracked (blame the internet :P ) and hinders progress furhter.
Any more questions?
Oh, and the bottom render, is a Trainz render, look at the EPB on thats at the right hand side, that was my earlier creation made in GMAX. Note the fact I used "texture transparencies". I punch holes in the meshes, and fill them with a plane, that has the the transparence set to create the illusion of glass. One side effect, is that it looks much more realistic, than the texture equivelent!

title bar (that with 'Window')
buttons
slider
blinds (object for writing texts and images in rows)

An example made of train info window.

All art and vehicle stats I authored for TT and derivatives are as of now PUBLIC DOMAIN! Use as you see fit
Just say NO to the TT fan-art sprite licensing madness. Public domain your art as well.

Different kinds of buttons:
normal (= action, eg: OK, CANCEL, BUY, SELL, ...)
toggle (= eg : checkboxes)
Togglegroups (= eg : radioboxes : one choice out of a group of possibillities)

Do you mean a scrollbar or a slider to change some value? I think we could use both.

Well for toggles I wouldn't really use Checkboxes but just buttons that stay pressed.

That's the same, just another look, I just wanted to point to the functionallity needed. The exact look can be easily changed if the window manager is designed good enough.

I am not very good at modelling, but I have currently a low-poly German DB Class 218 WIP. Maybe we could use that in the game (Introduced: 1967 AFAIK, obsolete: 2005 (I think they will become obsolete next year))

It looks like it has the right detail level, to fit in the game. I think it looks quite good actualy.

I began to texture the sides and began to model the front (the ¿bumpers? (in Germany we call it "Puffer")

The arrows on the sides are a guide for me to get the sizes and orientations right.

EDIT: If I have the time, I will make German "RegionalBahn" and "Regional Express" (Short Range trains).

As we have not eaven start coding exept a few prototypes there is not much use for modeles currently. An idea for the graphics team could be to make a database of all models with an descreption, file format, a link to it, and a optional link to an image of the model. Or just make a siple wiki page with refference to all models.

So Raven I dont think you will get verry much input from people here exept maybe "that was cool".

I might be totaly wrong. So plese correct me if im way out in space.

well, i mean, i'm making these models both for fun and for simutrans, but as i need to include a thousand details for the tiny renders to look perfect i thought you could make good use of them...
if some developer reads this, take note: my models are made in blender, just ask for them if you want as i have no problem in sharing, and they'll be periodically shown as no-rendered images in the simutrans forum.
as soon as a graphic engine is developed for transport empire, some standards are set and such things, i won't at all mind to give descriptions and tech data of everything. until then, wish you good luck!! keep up the great job!

kind regards
