nope, i did'nt even read the readme.
Btw: i did that 3 months ago!
i was too afraid to post it!
Mabye ill try a bigger steamer! any suggestions?

ok, I have done some testing, and basically I managed to make a tree that consists of 8 triangles :)

its hard to see in renders unless you apply textures, but its basically 2 crossing vertical planes and a horizontal plane put across them, with the middle vertex pulled down, so it forms an upturned pyramid.

I have seen this being used by a game already, and with a texture it looks convincing enough and can be used in large quantities :)
plus you can display quite a lot of tree-types with that method

EDIT:
Ive done some more complex trees, 2 versions of them, for different types of trees.
the new polycounts are 30 and 34.

using 3dsmax 6, I can export to most formats, depending on what you need :)

ok, here goes a screenshot. did a quick GI render so you can see the actual shapes a lil better.
these trees are basically derived from the first type, I just added a stem

Each wheel can be made with 2 triangles and a semi-transparent texture. No need for this level of detail, I think. Also the cylinders couldn't probably be done with a lot less triangles.
