Tasks to do in parallel with the DD

Post by Zuu »

On the 2 latest meeting we have had a point called "Tasks to do in parallel with the DD" on the agenda.

What have been suggested so far:
  • Website
  • User interface
  • EmpireBot - our own irc bot
  • Create a list of systems avilable for testings
  • Setup development environments on our machines. (added 2005-04-17)
  • Make a small demo using SDL, and CVS. (added 2005-04-17)
---

I think that at least some of ous should focus on the website to start with, as we will have use for it on the other tasks too. I don't think we should go to depth into a discussion about any af the tasks, as that is better done in a seperate thread.

---

I also suggest that it might be good implement the work groups sometime.

Something I want to do myself in parallel with the DD is setting up a development environment on my machine with SDL etc correctly installed.

Ideally we could do some CVS tests with a simple prototype that uses SDL so we can all set-up our dev. env. correctly. This might gain us some time when the actual coding starts.

For that we could use sourceforges doc manager.

Just decide a name conversion for the files, and upload them. But probably the webpage should have a lik to the doc manager.

However, if you like to discuss the homepage futher, create a theread, so we don't polute this thread.

Has there been a decision or at least evaluation of different libraries to use? You mention SDL, that's why I'm asking. I am currently trying out OGRE, which is a 3D rendering engine, and it looks very promising.

The choice of library is not fixed yet. SDL is a serious candidate. We have also been playing around with CrystalSpace.

I have some plans for a website. However it will take some time, before I have something to look at.

I will try to observe all suggestions about the website, so post your ideas here (or in a new thread?).

Perhaps we shall select a task manager(a person) for each task, that will lead the task.

Perhaps each tasks could be added to the task list on sourceforge.
