new DB Set XL (version 0.7)

Post by michael blunck »

I´ve uploaded a new version of the DB Set XL which fixes some bugs and
introduces a couple of new locomotives, train sets and coaches.

Due to the rather substantial amount of changes since 0.64 the new version
number has been set to 0.7.

V0.7 (May 31th)
-----------------
Bug fixes:

- fixed bug (missing string delimiter) resulting into a crash in the spanish
version,

- fixed bug with VT-95, erroneously showing TransRapid wagons for coaches in
middle of train set in case two motor cars were used,

Improvements:

- improved shape and livery of the DRG "Rheingold" mail/luggage van in
1928.,

- made the DRG closed van refittable for mail too, because those vans were
commonly used for transporting mail, especially on local routes,

- changed coaches and tender life spans,

- changed weight of coaches and mail vans (pre-war: 18 tons, local: 40 tons,
long-distance: 50 tons)

- due to introduction of additional engines I had to change the AI ranks,

- made the ICE-3 usable as a double (i.e. 16 units) and as a half consist (4
units) too,

New vehicles:

- added the "E52" (bav. EP5) electric engine in 1924 in brown livery of the
K.Bay.Sts.B. (Royal Bavarian State Railways), later in DRG gray and DB green
livery. This is a heavy duty locomotive usable for passengers and freight
especially suited with the "freighttrains" switch set,

- added the "E16" (bav. ES1) electric engine in 1926 in brown livery of the
K.Bay.Sts.B., later liveries as above. This is an early express passenger
train engine. Both engines are highly usable in mountaineous terrain but
*very expensive* to give the steamers a chance.

- added the "ET-87" EMU in 1927 in K.P.E.V. (prussian) green, DRG cream/red
and DB red livery. This is an early electric train set in a 3-part custom
layout (trailer- motor van - trailer) with increased capacity and loading
amount for use on local routes,

- added the DRG "ET-11" EMU in 1935, an early high-speed electric train set
in a 3-part custom layout for use on long-distance routes,

- added the "BR420" EMU in 1971, first in orange/gray "S-Bahn", and later in
"traffic-red" DB livery. This is another custom layout EMU (3, 6 or 9
vehicles in a 3-part trailer - coach - trailer layout) with high capacity
and loading amount increased for use in commuter services,

- added the "BR111" electric engine in 1975, first in cream/blue DB,
between 1979 - 1996 in "S-Bahn" livery, then in traffic red. Local coaches
added to this engine will change to S-Bahn livery too and get their loading
amount increased for use in commuter services. This engine being also
perfectly usable for long-distance trains.

- added german-style semaphores.

Building custom train sets
--------------------------

Whenever buying a custom layout train set, the usual procedure is as
follows:

- build the "engine" (this wouldn´t be always the "real" engine, but TTD
insists on having the engine first in a consist),

- build passenger coaches or mail vans as required (local- or long-distance
ones, not those short "pre-war" coaches/vans),

- whenever you´ll have to build still more coaches or vans, special symbolic
wagons with the word "more" on it (in green) will be shown in the building
window,

- if you´re adding more coaches or vans as possible, symbolic wagons with
the word "stop" on it (in flashing red) will be shown. If this is the case,
simply remove wagons until they´re looking "normal" again.

- all capacities, loading amounts and powered wagons will be adjusted
automagically.

As always, use a "cht:resetvehicles" if changing to the new DB Set version
when in a savegame.

Enjoy (and please report any bugs found)

Great, that sounds really nice. Keep up the fantastic work! Good idea to
include instructions in the post, but you know people will still ask. ;)

Fortunately enough this is easy. :o)

Due to a bug in v0.7 this engine would never appear.

I´ve uploaded a revised version (0.71) on:

http://www.patagonia.de.vu/ttd/download/dbsetxl.zip (DOS)

http://www.patagonia.de.vu/ttd/download/dbsetxlw.zip (Windows)

I´ve also sent Josef the files to upload it on

http://www.ttdpatch.net/newgrf.html

later this day.
