Modding for the game died out?

Post by Alkotol »

Locomotion is a game i've played since release, when i was a child. It took a good while to find out it was possible to add mods to it, and at first, it seemed easy, but after 2016 thing sort of "faded"... I remember downloading a brazilian train pack (As my grandfather worked on the railways of the city) and often cry for hours when he died. The saddest part is to no longer find such modded assets. I could learn myself to add and everything, but i still have a college and academic research to carry on, so i would like to ask you guys if this little precious game is still alive. I may be begging for company right now with this, but the point is to find out more stuff to add into the game, if there is any outside the main sources of the internet.

@Alkotol: Welcome to the forums.

In your post, you haven't explained if you have looked at any mods that are available on the forums. Over the years, there have been a lot of hard work put into modding Lomo, including not only vehicles but maps/scenerios as well. Members such as Zimmlock,
Plastikman, Emperor Darth Sidious, and many many others. If you conduct a search, (shown at the top of the main page), you will find many mods that are available for you to add to this fine game. As an example, two of my favourites are Soldier Summit and The Serpent, but there are many others to choose from. That's all I can post at this point in time without submitting a long list of mods. To see some of these mods in action, you may wish to check out YouTube There you will find some examples of the mods that you are seeking. Also check my signature for links and further information.

Anyhow, good luck with your searches, and enjoy, I'm sure you will.

Regards, Greyfox.

The only alive modders of this game are Walter1940, lomo_xd (someone who hasn't even released one mod) and I guess... me? (when it comes to making mods recently, not just in the past)
We should try and bring back the Locomotion community to its former glory.

I can't thank you enough for that. I play with them everytime i miss my grandfather. I was just seeking more models, so if i replicate the city in the game, my grandmother would be proud

I remember gaining the game as a gift when i was a child, right when it released and i loved it so much that i can't have a PC without it. Mods, Maps, OpenLoco... It improved the game so much that i don't understand how it happened...

The biggest problem is that Locomotion is too limited for modding, I hope that OpenLomo could solve this, for example, allowing more vehicles (224) or at least different options for livery selection, having articulated wagons with loading stages, random load variations, allowing more load types for a wagon or vehicle...

Locomotion could be a great game for modding, but it's too limited now.

If you are really interested, I can add the Brazilian liveries of Spanish UT 440 EMUs, but I cannot guarantee to match other trains from other sets. Another option is to use a MSTS model (under permission), add the Brazilian livery, and convert it to Locomotion. I'm trying to "re-render" the Spanish trains that I did some years ago with matching light and colours, so I have the UT 440 EMUs modelled. I don't know if there is a thread for Brazilian trains.
Sorry if my english is too poor, I want learn it, but it isn't too easy.

Since the new save format is almost finished for OpenRCT2 and since the two projects have many of the same staff, we can probably expect these limits to be removed within a year or two.
