AmiTrains went down a few years ago. Since then, the administrator of this forum started hosting the mods on his own site, https://www.locomotiondepot.net/.

You'll also see that I responded to your comment on the original topic with a more specific link, one that has other links to the Megapack and other mods by the same team, https://www.locomotiondepot.net/amitrains/chicago.

Be patient, someone will come around to answer questions if you wait. Usually me.

The answer to this is so simple. Zakos has already shown where to obtain this pack

Besides, the link is already shown in my signature. Download everything you can, and follow the prompts. The download will form a Hive, (Folder), Just extract any packs that you need, ( if not all of them), into a clean original Objdat folder relevant to the scenario that you want to play, and go from there.

Point to remember, be patient, an do try to use the search function shown on the main page, and you may also need to use an online search function if all else fails. Then seek help from the forums if you're stuck for answers.

Cheers and good luck.

Oof, sorry If I was getting a bit repetitive. Ok, I see it now. I suppose I didn't recognize it in between all the others, even though it clearly states PLASTIKMAN right there.

Thanks guys! I'll try it out today. Hope it works with the whole mac - transitioner thing. :)

It works!

Was a bit tricky though. At first, it wasn't showing me the "Steam" File, so I had to open it up under the locomotion local files through steam. Then it worked!

Also, as Zakos stated, it fixed a bunch of the LJS locos, sans a UP SD90MAC and an SD70, but that's alright. I can't wait to try out these new mods! Plastikman Is god.

Is there a way to mod the limit to the number of vehicles we can select? Nothing major, maybe 324 instead of 224. that would be great!

If you've poked around at all, you may have noticed that you can't change those limits in the editor without editing the .exe which is generally understood to be illegal. The open source version might one day remove that but for now it's just hard-coded.

Phooey. No, I didn't realize that. I thought it was only illegal if you edited it and then distributed it.

Distributing someone else's mods in general isn't allowed, but editing the .exe itself is as well. There's a sticky about it.

I took a look at that sticky. Hm. Is there like, a thing with the game similar to a patent where once a certain amount of time passes it becomes public? Or am I just completely off my rocker here because I'm salty I can't play with more than 224 vehicles?

OpenTTD is available for free download because TTD itself was considered abandonware. I don't know how the developers came to that conclusion, but essentially Chris Sawyer must have not been making any money due to not holding the copyright or distribution rights or something similar. I would imagine that, since he partnered with Atari, someone will always stand to profit from Locomotion and other titles from around that time so the freedom to mess about with the code is a pipe dream.

I mean, technically no one would know if you did. But you're not supposed to and I would call you mean names.

I better back off, I'm very sensitive to mean names. *Crosses Fingers*

Ok here we go again, the normal rule for considering a software title as abandonware is 21 years so Locomotion could not legally be considered for that status before 2025, but here is the but and it is a big but.
Because of the fractured nature of Atari due to the sales of the name and titles over the years, the right to a title may not rest solely with one entity and thus the dispute over who technically holds the rights in that region could be complex, and of course there is the matter of Chris Sawyers Intellectual Property Rights to be considered as the creator of the title along with any rights credited to music developers, etc.
My advice is clear if you are going to tamper with the Exe, do so and do not talk about to anyone as by that alone you have invalidated any rights you acquired via your purchase of the game, I suggest next time to read the Eula closely as it prohibits any form of tampering with the game engine.

No need for an angry dig. I think he got the message.

It was not an angry dig, it was a clear explanation of why the subject has been avoided ever since I've been a member of this forum which is now getting on for 12 years, the reality is no one wished to see the site closed down for encouraging an illegal form of video game piracy and a decision was made a very long time ago not to discuss this or even encourage it's discussion.
What people do in private regarding the game is their own choice Zakos.
