Hello Peeps. I usually do OpenTTD, but it's good to switch between the two. Locomotion has it's charm.
Pastikman's sets are extremely well done, and I must thank him for all his hard work. So, thanks dude! (I really love the Provo, Utah map with the UP Dekosoft locomotives.)
But, I'd like some nicely done vehicles that are company colored. (The North American train selection is depressingly small.)
So, how does one go about creating company colored vehicles for Locomotion? And can MSTS Locomotives and cars be used to create company colored vehicles? (With permission of course!)
I want something a little more flexible to use than roadname specific power.
Edit- Unpacked a DAT file. It seems the placeholder colors are purple and red. What are the RGB values for the purple and red?
Company Colored Vehicles?

IIRC (I can't find any of my source files, they're probably on a long-since binned backup disk ) it's basically the same as TTD - Locomotion uses a 256 colour palette with certain ranges magically recoloured. http://www.tt-wiki.net/wiki/Sprite_Palette seems to have some information on which ranges to use.
Re: Company Colored Vehicles?
MSTS to Locomotion basically just takes a lot of pictures of the loco from different angles. You would have to add the purple and red yourself, to every image in the .DAT.SD40-2 wrote:And can MSTS Locomotives and cars be used to create company colored vehicles? (With permission of course!)
You should check out Walter1940's "Wally" program (Thanks Walter, I really like your program!). He has made color pallets for locomotion (called lomo and lomoveh), including the correct purples and reds (I think...).SD40-2 wrote:Edit- Unpacked a DAT file. EDIT: The wiki link Pikkabird posted has the pallet I was talking about.

If I can get my reskins to convert properly, that is extremely trivial. I just have to paint it in a pleasing way using the replaceable colorsglenjimen wrote:MSTS to Locomotion basically just takes a lot of pictures of the loco from different angles. Re: Company Colored Vehicles?
The pallet from the wiki is the same as lomoveh. But this pallet I've not created. To be honest, I found it here in this forum.glenjimen wrote: You should check out Walter1940's "Wally" program (Thanks Walter, I really like your program!). To create vehicles in company colors you need to coloring in a particular hue pink all textures of MSTS vehicles. This is not as easy as it sounds.SD40-2 wrote: So, how does one go about creating company colored vehicles for Locomotion? The red is not important. But the pink / purple.SD40-2 wrote: Edit- Unpacked a DAT file. It seems the placeholder colors are purple and red. What are the RGB values for the purple and red?
You can determine the value of a pipette program. For example with this ---> http://www.sttmedia.com/pipette

Re: Company Colored Vehicles?
I am fairly certain that there are a few company colored vehicles in the AMI trains donationware. There's an F7, a caboose, a hopper and a surfliner. If you are looking for a full pack of these types of vehicles I'm also puzzled on where to find them.
Cheers!
