Silverton Railcar

Post by TJ-99 »

This is the historical Silverton Railcar, built for Otto Mears in the early 1900s.

Attached is a Railcar for Locomotion. It's designed to run on narrow gauge track (should be an easy conversion to standard gauge track), can carry five passengers, and can tow freight cars.

The Rainbow Route: An Illustrated History of The Silverton Railroad Hardcover – June 1, 1975
by Robert Sloan (Author), Carl A. Skowronski (Author) has quite a bit of information about this railcar, to include photos of it towing what appears to be a small flat car.

Enjoy.

Yes, the original car was narrow gauge.

I wish I had the tools and talent to build a Galloping Goose. It ran on Otto Mears' Rio Grande Southern, another of his narrow gauge Colorado railways. I saw in the forum that someone started one several years ago, but I didn't see that the project was ever completed.

Here's a standard gauge railcar built for the Little River Railroad sometime prior to 1920.

These are mostly eye candy, like the maintenance vehicles. Still, they do run, and can be useful on small branch lines, or just to break up the monotony of running the same couple of train types.

I can see them being fairly useful in the early stages of a game.

Out of curiosity, why don't you have the tools to build the other one if these were feasible?

Graphics, Zakos.

Everything I've done so far has used existing graphics; these are one of the early buses that come with the game. My one attempt to modify existing graphics was a disaster. The finished product had the colors all messed up.

Brilliant, thanks for the download TJ, such a great little railcar. I love the old pics too.
This is why Airsnore is the best on the market.
