[WIP] NL Region

Re: [WIP] NL Region
I also noticed that there are some (weird) things going on with some roads. First is that the highway and ramp can't be used with stations. While this seems logical, it leaves out the possibility to use it for different purposes than highways, which may be handy sometimes to make it more realistic looking.
Second is that when you make a four way crossing with the "Avenue", it looks really weird and almost buggy. A screenshot below.
After a while I realized that the reason why I find the Dutch depot "station" not really fitting is because it looks like a depot I would put in the (late) steam period and not in post-50s/60s. Especially the doors with arcs makes it look like really old. It's just my personal opinion though. The truck depot looks much more modern, not 21st century like but at least not as if it belongs in the steam period.

Re: [WIP] NL Region
I wanted to keep things at least semi-realistic so I thought it would be silly to have stations on onramps. However, I agree that it would be neat to be able to use them as one-way roads as well. If I remember I'll make them "station-enabled" in the next release.IrmoTrainfan wrote:First is that the highway and ramp can't be used with stations. I'm aware of this problem and I'll try to add something a little more pleasing to the eye. The problem with these one-way road intersections is that to look good, I'd need to be able to add an image for each of the four directions the intersection can be viewed in. Locomotion doesn't allow this so these intersections are always going to look a little weird (see the highway intersection for example).IrmoTrainfan wrote:Second is that when you make a four way crossing with the "Avenue", it looks really weird and almost buggy. I agree, but the problem with stations is that Locomotion only allows 7 different types. When I was planning the station set, I only had 'room' for one industrial depot-style station. I also always try to keep in mind that my usual playthroughs of Locomotion span from 1900 to the far future, so I always like to have every time period covered. I'll consider making it a bit more generic, but for the moment I like how it looks and since steam trains are in the works anyway, we might need something for the steam period.IrmoTrainfan wrote:After a while I realized that the reason why I find the Dutch depot "station" not really fitting is because it looks like a depot I would put in the (late) steam period and not in post-50s/60s. As for the trucks, I'm going to split the release into two - I'm going to release the first set of 'early game trucks' very soon (in the next few days), and then the 'cab and trailer' trucks a few weeks later. I'm working on so many things at once that I can hardly keep track of everything and I hate to keep you guys waiting, so I'm going to release smaller sets of finished content more often.
Also, a preview of a small subset of the freight vehicles so far:

I like this NL, now I have new motivation to play Loco.
It's funny to see horses going around in my road

Nice work! Really like the avenues
Btw, what happened to the NL Trains? I can't find the DL anywhere :/
Something about scrat leaving? That's kind of a bummer because IDK why, but Britain has million pound trains that transport millions of people a day and America has huge, powerful freight locomotives that can haul upwards of 10,000 tonnes of freight.
Yet Dutch trains always look cool. They just seem nice.

IJN Takao is life. Why did the Shinano get converted? Gotta love NeuroTec for Garry's Mod. I even have a server!
