How to?

Post by Maniac »

Hi there,

There are probably more ppl on this forum that are wondering about the same stuff, so hopefully someone can explain.

1. Can we ADD or only REPLACE vehicles in Locomotion?

2. When I am finished with a model, and rendered it. How do you import it into the game?

3. How do you render vehicles so that they go upphill or downhill? I mean how do we know the scale?

Thanks

1. We can ADD them. Simply a new dat file with new values is a NEW vehicle!

2. would like to know also. I rendered about 75% of the train tracks needed for monorail type 1, but dont know the angles and how i get the scale right.

3. look at 2.

1. Well, that and enable them in the scenario editor. ;)

isometric: 45 degrees side view + 35.27 degrees downward view
slope tilt: 26.565 [atan(1/2)], 14.036 [atan(1/4)]

edit:
mmm, not sure why I have bin using 35.27,
but 35.26 seems to be the more precise angle. [ asin(1/sqrt(3) ]
right, like anyone would see the difference.

Thanks for your info.

Now let's say I want to model a bus in 3DsMax6. What measurement do I use? Do I add the real-life meters to the model or something much smaller that that, so that it fits in Locomotion?

to quote the locomotiondepot wiki where a 3dsmax tutorial grows, one locomotion world unit is X 50 Y 50 Z 25

the thing is you can choose: meters, feet, inch, ....

So what is X? length? Y height and Z width?
I cant seem to find anything about vehicle size on LocomotionDepot Wiki

X length Y width Z height
and im talking about world units, not vehicle sizes.
if you lay down one piece of track then you are using 1 world unit (1 square)

so if you have a vehicle its logical that its not bigger than 1 world unit because otherwise it would be cut of.

If that were the case hen how come A LOT of the airplanes and train engines and boats in the game are all longer/wider then a single "world unit"?

Roger that!

Ok, so I made a dummy object, and made it 50x50x25.
I made Pane that is 44 Inches long and 27 Inches wide, but for some reason it is bigger than the Dummy Object. it looks like the dummy object has some other metric unit, and I don't know how to change it. Am I doing something wrong here? On Wiki it says that I need to make a Dummy Mesh, is that the Dummy Object in Helpers tab on 3DsMax?

Well the thing I wrote about world units was entirly about tracks'n briges...they base 100% on world units... vehicles are an entierly different story.

I haven't even gotten close to describe how to do vehicles in the Wikki

To the xyz thing..... if you want to, you can make it 1500x1500x750 or 100x100x50... you don't even HAVE to do it, it's just helpful
