How would you do it?

Post by Badger »

How would you place/make/create a station for this town (2 tracks, 4 tiles long initially, but with room to expand)??

I can't decide how to do it. The tracks should head towards the next town, double track preferably.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions, warblings and spam!!

But that doesn't leave much space for trackwork etc

I'd probably do it something like this. Demolish that one building so that the catchment area covers the buildings NW of the road. You've got room to add more platforms on the NE of the station, and to make the platforms longer, and the town's got room to build more buildings in the catchment area SW of the station.

Ah, interesting. I'd considered something like that to begin with. Cheers DropZone.
Any more?

I was thinking of the same placement as DropZone with a little landscaping so the lines can stay level. Buy up some land near the station and by the time you're ready to expand you can probably get away with demolishing a few buildings too.

That's where I'd put it!

I can't see any better places so long as covering the town matters.

I'd do it like Dropzone suggested but you could always take advantages of the remote stations joining thing in TTDP and build it like this.... Plenty of room to extend the platforms and add extra platforms.

Or, you could place it in the original location and buy up the land to the northeast (straight up being north) to prevent the town from building there, which it isn't likely to do anyway for a while.

Either way is valid and would work, but the path to get the station out of the town is a little more destructive.

How do I edit those images in paint?

I would like to put my station.

p.s.this might be off topic but this might be a short question to answer (you don't have to answer the following question). Is that a street set that I couldent get the buildings to appear?

p.p.s That's a nice train that you've got there.

download it (right-click then save-as) and then open it in paint and use the pencil tool to draw the station or whatever it is.

I would build it next to the town, make it roll-on roll-off and have buses/trams move people to the station. :)
I'm not really sure in what versions of TTD this is possible, though.

And in which realistic world would a mainline terminus passenger station be RORO?
