"Yew Island"

Post by matticus88 »

I cannot seem to complete this challenge :(

Get rating of 50% before 1920 on a map thats very hilly and lots of water.

My previous attempt i started with a fairly short 1 track grain service which brought in my initial cash and i then started a coal to steelmill service, 2 tracks from 2 mines with the track underground to avoid needing massive slopes in the track. after that i went big and did a 2 track coal line right across the water, across the mouth of the "U" shaped island and also a fairly long route collecting iron ore and the another delivering steel back across to the other side of the "U" but my rating never went higher than 30%.

I was raking in the money, the AI had railways all over the shop weaving in and out of each other, some coal mines had over 5 stations serving them and the map was a complete mess.

What is the best way to get a high rating?
Anybody have any suggested starting places to try?

It's really very simple. Do exactly as I say:

DOWNLOAD THE TRAINER from AMI Trains!
Cheat Big: Obtain 20 Million dollars (set money function to 10M pounds)
Build everywhere feasible or profitable, and do it quick.

 That trick works for every scenario in the game, even ones you download or create.

Somehow, I don't think he wants to beat the challenge by cheating.

edit it in the scenario editor and remove the AI competitors?

That defeats the purpose of the game. I took a look at the map and didn't have a clue where to start.

It is not an easy scenario, I failed the first time I tried (I had a performance rating of about 44%). When I replayed it from a save game, I got lucky and my performance rating briefly spiked to the 50% needed to complete the challenge.

Never played any game against the AI, I have an adversion to being faced with a competitor who can do anything they like while the computer limits me in return
