there is not a train length limit i made once a 120 car train, the trick is that the game cant run this on a strait track, my coal train in the post above stalls on a strait track, so to run long trains (3 loco's and more than 35 cars) you have to build a track system that meanders so that the long train allway is on two curves, the maximun strait lenght i use is 30 tiles, this does not count for diagonal track they can be longer, allso is less meander needed on parts where the train does not reach its top speed, during climbing a hill i can use more and longer strait tracks.

So you mean if I run a train on Peninsular World wich is 40 or longer then the train can manage ? There are much diagnals, but to make a train that is just as long as a Peninsular is large... :D

Gotta say I agree, a long train would be at least 3 times the length.

Wow, that's really long. But only 2 wagons filled?

By the way, how can I know how many machines (locomotives) to put?

Pffft only 35 hopper cars
Trey running long trains with tanker cars for some reason they are much more heavy and you need a hudge amount of power to move them up a mountain, at the screenshot a 29 tanker car train i need 28000hp to move it a little decent up the mountains, at a few spots it ll drop speed to 5mph. My coal trains contain 43 hopper cars, to do the same job i only need 26000hp.

Bah! 1000 Ton loads are enough dontchu think Zimms? The longest trains I do are never past 30 cars. Anything else just takes up too much space on the map.
Most of my trains don't extend far past this

Nah i dont think so, if you play this game long enough you start to search the limits, now i am in long trains and i don not feel they take to much space on the map, it depends on the map, and thats why i make maps for long trains. Infact this is more easy, i study for long time to make verry small maps, but i didnt succed yet to make them challenging.

True. I've noticed that a lot on your maps. Its all passes and repeat lines, going back and forth. Im more of a.. How do you say this.... "laid back" player. My trains are short and to the point. Most deliver within 120 days at the most...
