Locomotion will not start up.

Post by OpenRailer90 »

Just recently Locomotion will not start up at all. It happens when a distorted Atari logo appears on the screen, and no music plays. I just click and stuff and ALT+TAB to find the problem. It says Locomotion is running but not responding...i just close the program. How do I resolve this??

Edit: If the distorted screen does not appear, then the loading icon of an American and a British steam train will just shift and not work.

I also installed patch 1.76.

Try running in win xp mode.

right click on the exe file , goto propeties->compability and choose xp as startup.
The only thing that is not very successful in the wireless version : Bungee Jumping 8o
Just fold at the dotted line and cut it out with a pair of scissors. If you are under the age of 16 please ask one of your parents or an adult supervisor if she/he can help you.

Lighthouse even if he has a newer OS system if Locomotion was installed correctly and everything was in the right place it would at least go to menu even with botched looking graphics because i run my locomotion all the time with 8 when im using my school tablet and it will only go haywire like tycoonkid9 said if there was something wrong with the objdata folder such as a missing default file or a badly coded mod.

All the default files are in, but I there are slightly altered in sprites and/or in some statistics.

I think THIS is the badly coded mod, in which I just swapped sprites of the old Metra highliner with the sprites of the cab car.

If a mod is removed, then an error message will appear that an objdata file cant be found.

The North American Megapack, Dekosoft, FRC, Limited Edition, and Unstoppable sets are all in my normal (C:/.../Locomotion/Objdata) folder. All other mods are in AppData/VirtualStore/Program Files (x86)/Atari/Locomotion/Objdata.

When you're trying to start up Locomotion, do you have a browser window open (minimized) that is displaying something that uses Adobe Shockwave/Flashplayer and requires Java? If so, Locomotion probably won't start up for you. At least it won't for me. Closing the browser window completely fixes the problem for me.

Another thought, since you think you have a bad data file.

Replace it with a good data file. Remove the suspected bad one from the objdata folder. Copy a good data file, and give the copy the same name as the suspected bad data file. You won't get the missing data file error message this way. If the game starts, you know it was the bad data file. If it still won't start, well, at least you've eliminated a possibility.

I suspect it was the lazily done Metra 2nd gen Highliner, here: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=71018

Situation is resolved! I just deleted my locomotion install, and used the clean install I backed up from when I installed the game last year. I also reinstalled all the North American and Dekosoft sets.

@tycoonkid9: Hmmm........I wonder why you would use a "clean backup" to reinstall Lomo. Surly a clean install from the disk would be more reliable than a backup? You do have a Lomo CD don't you??

I put the entire Locomotion installation into a zip folder just incase I screw up on something. It has everything unmodded right after I installed Lomo.
