Windows 8 - save game files not appearing.

So I have a problem which I knew how to resolve with Win7, but this time it's escaping me. I assume it has something to do with UAC, but anyway the problem is a savegame which I have put in a lot of time appears in the game when opened, but when I go to the Program Files it does not appear. I tried editing the .exe compatibility to Windows XP service 3; this just makes it disappear altogether, I don't know where it is moved to. The same conundrum applies to screenshots I take as well.
