building trains

Hello everyone I am new to theese forums and pretty much new to the Locomotion game. I like the idea of the game but still getting used to A LOT of the features. The problem I am currently having is trying to build a train. I can place the locomotive just fine but when I try and add freight or passenger cars to the track I get an error saying can't place train here vehicle approaching or in the way. I want to connect the engine so that it will pull the cars. Thanks A LOT.

You add the carriages/trucks/wagons before placing the whole train on the track.
