Any ideas what is causing the crashes and how i can fix them. It seems to crash when i give the competitors money but this dosent happen straight away. If i don't give them money the game dosent seem to crash.

Any chance of using YACD instead of CargoDist? I'd think it would fit the philosophy of this patch pack much closer, what with cargo having predetermined destinations.

fieari wrote: Any chance of using YACD instead of CargoDist? I'd think it would fit the philosophy of this patch pack much closer, what with cargo having predetermined destinations.
I have been getting the same question in my patchpack thread ...
The chance of this happening is very slim as it would mean a complete restart of merging all patches from scratch ...
CargoDist is too big and nested too deeply in the code to be simply replaced by YACD.

I know for sure I will not be doing what you suggest myself unless I restart my patchpack from scratch; even if or when I do so, I myself like CargoDist too much to even consider leaving it out. So I would use YACDist instead of just YACD.

Also CargoDist is better maintained, less buggy, more polished, etc.
Disclaimer: This is not me saying that YACD is no good or that I devalue michi_cc's efforts in any way, I just meant to clarify that CargoDist is older and received a lot more 'love' over the course of time. Also I tested YACD only for a very brief moment while I played with CargoDist from the very start of its development ... I still hope for fonso and michi_cc to join forces in the near future to include the best of their respective patches in trunk.

Unless Vaulter has changed this, the CargoDist settings can be found in "Advanced Settings -> Link graph".

ps:
For people not familiar with changing Advanced settings ...
Changes made from the main menu affect only new games, for running games you need to make changes ingame for them to have any effect.

No wonder i couldn't find it. I didn't think of looking in the graph area. Thanks for that tip.

Hi!

Love your patchpack, can't bother to learn to compile, so the only way to play it is to get someone elses precompiled stuff, often pretty old.

Anyways, my game crashes. Simple as that. Doesn't show with any messages, just "OTTD has stopped responding".

Wait, that might be anything... It is ONE savegame. Or not only one, but one particular map, happens in 1964 as well as in 1970 for me. Same thing, 5 minutes after start, no other savegames. On the newest I changed a GRF to a newer one, but had no other issues. However, it happens on the old savegame as well, not only the newest, so the GRF change got nothing to do with it anyways.

Can't upload it here due to slow servers, 22mb file. Times two...

http://www.jump-gate.com/tardclan/WWT1.sav and WWT2.sav, don't know how OTTD likes me changing the sav name, but have to due to using my own server.

are you aware that there is an "infrastructure maintenance" already in trunk? (not based on this old patch)
  • Grass on unused tracks
  • Stucked trains on minimap (stuck_trains)
these two patches are incompatible, you can only use one of them.

I'd recommend to include eye-candy fences patch from here, it shouldn't hurt: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... 0#p1038070 .

As for version of 32bpp-anim-aa blitter that's included in this patchpack (it's latest that had been released up to now) - there are some nasty bugs and speed issues there, which are fixed in soon-to-be-released (soon means today or tomorrow) version. It'd be viable to update patch pack as soon as I post an updated patch because speed improvements for some blitter codepaths related to palette animation are huge - as much as 15-20x - most of the times changing the performance from "barely playable with FPS capping at 20 for 8 anim threads + 4xSBAA + 1 anim slot" into "normally playable with FPS capping at ~100 for 8 threads + 4xSAAA + 4 anim slot".

Looking at patch contents it seems that 32bpp_anim_aa blitter patch version included there is an outdated one. I'd recommend update it with a fresh one and - possibly - couple it with "resize done properly" patch. Using a fresher blitter patch version is a highly recommended thing due to PaletteAnimate() speed as it was implemented in earlier version of the blitter had been bad almost up to the level when it could made the game too slow to be playable even without AA applied to palette-animated pixels.

AFAIK, not with this patchpack (yet?). I.e. you would have to use "bigger maps" patch to get larger map sizes and this patch isn't included in Hard Game pack. Dunno if is it possible to include it in future as bigger maps patch could cause incompatibilities with other patches here and there. In other words it is certainly possible in the long run but might be a bumpy road to get a bug-free behavior with all the patches playing together.
