Re: NewGRF Airports, try 2
About the public airports, maybe in fact all airports should be private, but then the player can choose to sell some of his terminals to other companies.
I am little, ugly, and nasty. How do you do?

Re: NewGRF Airports, try 2
I love the idea of airports being industries. But would they be able to interact with other means of transport in the way private airports do? I mean transfers and such, especially when used with cargod(e/i)st.

This means not to social please.
If you wan´t to use my airport, you have to pay

Re: NewGRF Airports, try 2
Aircraft as they are, are the most imbalanced of all the means to earn money in OpenTTD. Making all airports into public, city-built airports would bring much more balance to the game as players couldn't simply spam aircraft left and right.
Re: NewGRF Airports, try 2
Well, actually, people have a right to do that, it's unfair, but they can. I would love to see an airport restriction patch somewhere in OpenTTD, but I doubt that will be included, as it limits people's freedom very harshly.
Re: NewGRF Airports, try 2
Have you tried to enable noise controlled airport restrictions?
It changes where you are allowed to build airports in a quite interesting way.

I did some balancing work on aircraft over some pages in the WAS thread. In the last balancing post there is also a test grf. I prefer balancing aircraft costs in stead of limiting airports.Killer 11 wrote:Aircraft as they are, are the most imbalanced of all the means to earn money in OpenTTD. edit: the grf is on this page
Re: NewGRF Airports, try 2
I had to take a break from this due to some exams, but now I decided to pick ut the airports again. Tried to make nforenum work, but it still gives an error saying feature cannot be 16. I was only supposed to change the data files?
Re: NewGRF Airports, try 2
Yes, but it's possible that nforenum has been updated and as such those data files no longer work. What version of nforenum are you using?Dimme wrote:I had to take a break from this due to some exams, but now I decided to pick ut the airports again. I'm using version 3.4.6Yexo wrote:Yes, but it's possible that nforenum has been updated and as such those data files no longer work. Re: NewGRF Airports, try 2
And what revision? nforenum has been version 3.4.6 for a (very) long time, but the data structure still changes occasionally.
Re: NewGRF Airports, try 2
That version is probably too old. I'll try to update the data files so work with the latest nforenum version, that you can download here: http://www.openttd.org/download-nforenumDimme wrote:r1795
Re: NewGRF Airports, try 2
There have been no updates to the nforenum data files (at least no breaking updates), so the data files in the first post should still work assuming you have a recent nforenum version. Please let me know if it works after you've updated nforenum.Dimme wrote:Thanks

Re: NewGRF Airports, try 2
I'd better code an industry that can have an airport in it - posting this mostly as reminder to self
FIRS Industry Replacement Set (released) | HEQS Heavy Equipment Set (trucks, industrial trams and more) (finished)
Unsinkable Sam (ships) (preview released) | CHIPS Has Improved Players' Stations (finished)
Iron Horse ((trains) (released) | Termite (tracks for Iron Horse) (released) | Busy Bee (game script) (released)
Road Hog (road vehicles and trams) (released)

Re: NewGRF Airports, try 2
As I would like some more testers there will be new binaries available in half an hour from now. I've updated the first post with the latest nforenum data files and more importantly I've added 3 test airports.A big thanks to everyone who has helped making those possible.
If you find any bugs or manage to crash the binaries in whatever way (even if it's due to an invalid newgrf) please let me know.
Happy testing

Re: NewGRF Airports, try 2
Using av8, what kind of aircraft is required to "land" on the wind turbine airport?
I've tried with a zeppelin (it looked like a zeppelin, and was built in a helidepot) as well as with aircrafts (not sure if they were small or large) and helicopters.
The industry airport and the water airport has the same GRF ID. So they can not be loaded at the same time.
I've noticed that the industry airport does not seem to accept large aircrafts. I assume that is a feature.

Re: NewGRF Airports, try 2
Yexo: just built h06d9eaa2 (builds fine on Mac). Looks good. Set me to thinking about being able to load helicopters while hovering...heli-logging
FYI, I seem to be able to trigger an assert by deleting the water airport. Crashlog attached.
