I've just read this suggestion for Locomotion. Could this work in OTTD?

It seems to make sense. From what little I know of OTTD/GRF coding, this sounds like it would work ( give the illusion) over both land and water.
It would also need "Hoverport" graphics - ie a modification of the small airport.
Just had a thought as I was writing this - The "shadow" would ignore any land based obstructions, like cities, industries, trains etc, just phasing through everything unless some collision detection could somehow be written in..........
Ah well. Never mind.
Pete.

IIRC the developers have experimented with the standard hovercraft going over land. There used to be a GIF or short video somewhere on the forums.
Re: Land Hovercraft - for OTTD?
Given that land hovercrafts mostly exist in theory and / or as small sports vehicles, I'd say it's not worth the coding effort.

As I said above....
I just thought it was an interesting bit of lateral thinking by the OP.

Those are not what OP was suggesting, they are bound to roads.
