I think underground tracks & stations (especially standard rails) would be a good addition. But before you start telling me that it's not so easy because of how OpenTTD was made, I know.
My idea is that underground tracks can be simulated by making the textures look like they are underground, and (here's a part I am unsure about) make it not collide with objects already there (except maybe parts like the entrance to a station).
I do not know how easy this is to implement, because I don't know C++ and never looked into the code of OpenTTD.
