Seperate Goods distribution

I would like to see a separate category for Goods in the cargodist settings like there is for PAX, MAIL, Armoured etc

even better if was a setting for "town accepted cargo" rather than just goods,

basically i want my goods output to have full cargodist routing features but my bulk coal and iron ore services to just deliver to anywhere it seems daft for a steel mill to want to buy coal from half way accross the map if there are 3 mines closer but it would not be wrong for goods to need shipping to various towns, at the moment with the style of network i build if i have goods not set to cargo dist only the town nearest the factories get any goods as my mail and goods trains would normally call A - B - C - D - E - D -C -B -A, hauling whatever is needed (box waggons of various types with refit to avalable orders)

I already proposed such feature: separate cargodist deifintion for express cargo class, but it was criticised because some 'bulk' cargoes such fish or coffee falls into this class.
Your proposition (to check TOWNGROWTH_GOODS, TOWNGROWTH_FOOD and TOWNGROWTH_GOODS) seems to be better. For example in case of FIRS, goods, food and fuel would be fall in these categories, it make sense.

There was discussion (can't remember when) about letting cargos give more information to cdist. But it's a really hard problem to solve reliably. There is no reliable concept of 'goes to towns' for cargos.

As McZapkie said, town growth flags might be best of the available options, but it's not going to be reliable, and it won't get added to trunk, none of current devs want to commit anything that's just going to cause bug reports / more feature requests :)

Express sounds workable to me - if it needs to go express it probably is 'special' in some way. To play devil's advocate, I do buy at least somewhat dependent on the specific plantation it was grown on, and the specific roastery that roasted it. Similarly at the market I can make a choice be Atlantic or Pacific oysters, Scottish or Alaskan salmon, etc. It would not be that bizarre for fish and coffee to have specific destinations if user enabled it.
