No collision railtypes

Post by DerekCZ »

How about a feature that when asigned to a railtype disables collisions with road vehicles? Such a railype could be drawn right through a road with high-speed trains on in without the fear of them hitting cars.
The reasoning behind this idea are subway and elevated track types, because it is stupid for a car to collide with a train that is several meters under/above it, and disabling railway crossing makes railtypes that are intended to be used in cramped cities pretty much unusable in cramped cities :/

sounds like the wrong solution to the problem. what we need is actual elevation of tracks/roads, instead of "fake" subways

FWIW, I could see this working for elevated track.
Definitely not for subways, though - a big part of subways is that they can be built under existing buildings, which just can't be done with a special railtype.
