Integrating ctrl and shift buttons from Openttd portable

Post by lrbaumard »

Hi there,
I've been playing openttd for years, this is my first post though.
I've been using pelya's awesome android version of openttd on my nexus 7 for around 3 years now, however recently i upgraded it to a windows 8 tablet (no windows store openttd yet).
I had to install the desktop version as using bluestacks was too clunky and slow. However I cannot use the onscreen keyboard to use the ctrl key.
In the portable version, ctrl and shift are in the toolbar, would it be possible to add this as an option in the windows verison?
I asked Pelya in an email and he said a dev with virtual studio can compile it (means nothing to me)
Thanks,

How would that profit for a desktop programme?

I didn't say it would. Does it have to?

This feature would be for people with windows or Apple tablets and others without a keyboard.
It would either be a newgrf or other downloadable option for those who want it

There exists to my knowledge no compiled version suitable for tablets (other than pelya's android version).

Well windows 8 and Apple tablets can run the desktop no problem - except for the lack of keyboard shortcuts.
I'm not asking to make a whole new version for tablets (though by look of it there was one up until 1.3.0), just to integrate one small aspect from the android to desktop version

I know a way you can fix your on-screen keyboard, though, so you don't have to struggle with the CTRL key. If you go to PC Settings - PC and Devices - Typing, you can add the standard keyboard layout to the on-screen keyboard, which comes with the CTRL key. That should fix your problem. :)

Please try this package, it's OpenTTD 1.6.1 with Android interface compiled for 64-bit Windows:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/libsdl ... -win64.zip

Delete your old openttd.cfg for best results, this will enable map scrolling with one finger.

I don't have 32-bit version, sorry. I'll try to build it, after releasing 1.7.0 update for Android version.
