larger airport and some new features.

I was bored and copied some parts from the existing airports. Could it mabe be used for customized airports?

Here are the original picts used by the game... In case you want them
I like your last shot.
I just don't know about the terminal pads... I guess a better design could be found

If you are not ready to work a bit for your ideas, it means they don't count much for you.

Now I have done a Photoshop document with all airport parts.
(made on photoshop 7 CS)
Each component has its own layer. I named them with which number and type.
It will be easier for everyone to put the layers together to assemble new airport types.
The helipad on international airport was missing in the file from belugas. I cut out the round thing from the helipad structure just to have something to use temporary.
I also made runway in the other direction, left/right, whatever you call it.
...and also a tile for crossing runways. I'm stuck with the idea of having crossing runways! just can't let it go.
anyway. for all of you having photoshop. try this!

example
Just made an example of a huge airport (which is just an example). It didn't take so long when using layers.
To code something like this might be another story...
grass tiles. shall it be new grass tiles or the original tt tile? I skipped grass for now.
MeusH: is png format better? bmp is not allowed in the forum.

Hehehe... huge indeed...
And your signature : crossed runways
Do not care about the grass...
It can be taken care on building the real airport...
I'll be honest, I don't like crossed runways.
But it is my own opinion...
I like the work you've done with horizon-vertical ones.
I like the idea of the upper terminals facing the center ones. Breathing room.
Cool.
keep on!

I know. I forgot them. But this was just a test example. They're easy to add...jnmbk wrote:But there is only one hangar

but its too random. It looks like it would clog easy and has no sense of regularity. Here is a concept airport I found dep inside my backed up discs, I designed it with airport efficiency in mind, yet it has cons. (arriving planes must cross the other runway, but do not clog it). My idea was to small slow, small planes get off the runway MUCH earlier.
now THAT i like!
best airport i've ever seen
only think i'd suggest is to make the inner runways 1 tile shorter and use them for taking off (less space required), so that all runways can be used at the same time, and you make in essence 2 parralel paths for planes to follow, all the way from the landing strip to taking off
also i'd suggest swap one of each of the pairs of depots with the radar antenna, so that planes can service either before or after stopping

still sucks Only one aircraft is able to go to 1 of the 2 landing-strokes, the other aircraft has to wait! (considering the 2 most down lanes)thgergo wrote:I have dreamed a airport. It has got 4 runways
Thanks to Xilef, i used his "all components.zip"

I really like those two last airports
About the last one and the end of runway problem: that is why, on my suggestion (one of first pages), I've positionned both runways in and runways out one tile apart. I thought that doing so, the plnes would have theit own exits, without blocking each others...

For people who think it's faulty, I've made a picture:

Green line shows landing planecsuke wrote:only think i'd suggest is to make the inner runways 1 tile shorter and use them for taking off (less space required), so that all runways can be used at the same time, and you make in essence 2 parralel paths for planes to follow, all the way from the landing strip to taking off
On the yellow line plane will make decisions: go to hangar? go to terminal? look for terminals on the other side?
Plane can takeoff using the red line
There are no problems with planes blocking their ways.
However, if we want to make planes reverse and look for empty terminals, there may be one small block lasting a few seconds. Blue line represents reversing
