Traffic
This is just an idea, but what if there was traffic (like traffic lights, random cars, and emergency cars, car crashes, and more road type things) It might make it feel more real life. This might make it more intresting!

There are game scripts and AIs which cover the simulated traffic already.
There is also an old patch that does simulated stoplights, but no patch packs currently use it.

Traffic AI just gives chaotic mess of random cars which serves no purpose except annoying player. In other games like Simutrans these cars have some meaning and destinations, representing people who cannot use public transport or prefer faster private cars, so it looks better and changes according to transport situation. I tried traffic AIs in OpenTTD and they were terrible.
Traffic lights were implemented in Spring 2013 patchpack and looked great as far as I remember, I miss them in modern PPs.

In the default game, road vehicles cost money to purchase, operate and maintain. For an AI that is not ran for profit, and has little to no means to generate it, the AI will go bankrupt quickly, and its vehicles removed from the game. the AI will build a depot somewhere, and buy a bunch of vehicles, then lets them go without any orders, so they take random routes and fill the streets.
