Train Maintains Itself Despite Breakdows are off

Post by justaplayer »

So this happened in one of my stations. i had breakdowns off which includes maintanance which was set by deafult every second year.

It happened that because there is One single exit track and another track which served as entrance for the cargo trains (while the exit served also as passenger train entrance)

While the Cargo train was exiting another train (Train #22) Was entering and since Train 22 couldnt go anywhere it had entered the depot right before the Exit
and maintained itself. I just had bought the train in the same year.

This happened another few times with the same train and a diffrent cargo train.

You should post a screenshot or savegame of the area in question.

Is the setting "Disable servicing when breakdowns set to none" enabled?

it's possible that the train goes to depot for reasons other than servicing. like being lost after reversing, or weird pathfinder penalties.

Yes,I always left it like that.

I actually have found that the other trains were maintained 6 years ago:
These are the details of the train being maintained and wasting 7000€

This is also an image of the place where the trains start acting wierd.

So this is everything answered.
I also discovered that the same thing happened with train #4 the train in the image above.

Is there any particular reason why you use two-way signals?

Two way block signals will do that, yes. Trains will end up facing each other, then turn around when they have nowhere else to go, causing them to get lost. Then they use depots to turn around again, getting serviced in the process.

Yet another reason why I'm advocating for these signals to be hidden from the game by default :)

So i usually have use Terminal station as stations I normally build and they would do the same job with combo signals, but since i a huge wave of trains incoming at all times I had issues with using combo signals since they work with signal blocks instead of paths.

This time i just tried something new and diffrerent instead my usual overpasses that allow to do cross'n'fast.

That doesn't actually answer the question.

The two-way signal on the topmost line should not be there. It needs to be a one-way signal. The way it is currently set up, your setup WILL NOT WORK.

Also, your screenshot doesn't give us any idea where the depot is.

But my money is on your signalling as the root cause of all your problems.
